Looking at battery manager, DirecTV is using as much of my battery as my email - and I use email a LOT, have it set to check very frequently. But of course AT&T seemingly makes it impossible to delete that app - I don't have DirecTV and I don't want to lose all that power to their app! I did search here to try to find something first, so pardon any repetition - if I take it back to no updates, then will it allow uninstall or am I stuck? Thanks all!

I tried that, but then it asks "do you want to replace this app with the factory version" - so if I say OK, does anyone know if THEN I can yank/disable it (for good)?

You have to replace the current version on your phone with the stock image built into your phojne by the a-holes at ATT. Then, YES, you can disable it for good.

yes, go back to the stock version. then force stop, clear the app cache, stop all notification. this will disable the app permanently but not delete.

Yeah, all it does it uninstall any updates, which reverts it back to the original factory-installed version.
