Disable Wireless Charging Notification Sounds on Galaxy S5

To root you need the "towelroot apk"... Super simple.. less than 3 minutes start to finish.. Oh yeah, it will not work with Firefox browser (at least for me)

Help. Clueless about all this. I got S5 rooted, have Root Explorer browser, found the WirelessChargingStarted.ogg only by searching. Have a new sound ready but can not find the folder to replace it in except by searching and it will not allow adding files. Is there a better way or should I be using another browser instead. Totally confused.

I had Llama app on my phone so I set it up to set my phone to silent when wirelessly charging and the battery is above 98%. Then it will switch back to normal sound volumes when on battery power and the battery is below 98%. This basically silences the phone in the range where it will start cycling the wireless charging on & off. So far so good, although I would prefer not to have my ringtone on silent at night in case of an emergency.

Has anyone tried Blocking mode? Go to settings>[under personal] Blocking Mode. Turn on Blocking mode and uncheck everything except notifications. Then set the time frame for when you are sleeping or whatever times you want to be left alone. That should shut down the sound and the screen, but only when you want.

Since we can't root the s5 to get to that darned wireless charging OGG file..... I made an easel for my phone with a round QI charger in exactly the right spot and a magnet screwed to the top right corner of the stand. I programmed tasker to silence system sounds and notification sounds between 10pm and 5am AND in presence of a strong magnetic field. Works great!

Curious about carriers, chargers etc.

I have an S5 on VZW with a TYLT charger and I get nothing other than the initial sound when placing phone on the charger. No sounds play when it is done charging, nor if I leave it on the charger when complete.

Thanks worked on my rooted Galaxy S3, no more annoying "pucca" sound at night
Used root explorer, I downloaded the file "Charger_Connection.ogg", opened up Audacity and modified the original so that its silent with the same length (.558 seconds),
Thanks to rubdom, the file can be found in "system>media>audio>ui>"
sent back to the phone, renamed the original file to something else, put the modified file in there, changed permissions to original file's (rw-r--r--) and done. Works great

Did nobody on the Samsung quality assurance team test wirless charging before releasing the product? Ever??? "Wirelessly charging" ... beep... "Wirelessly charging" ... beep ... "Wirelessly charging" ... beep ... infinite loop on a 10-second cycle? OK, I get the power cycling but no way to turn off the annoying beeping and accompanying screen awakening from the base operating system?

Fail.

Battery Doctor turns it off? Nope.
System notifications volume set to 0 fixes it? Nope.
Apparently the only option is to root the phone and remove the .ogg file.

The Android market continues on its path towards being a different colored "Microsoft Mediocrity" horse. To get simple things to work that go beyond what comes "out of the box" you need a degree in computer science. This is the "install a driver", "update the OS", "it is not us, it is the other guy" mentality that Microsoft had a stronghold on until Google's Android market came along. As a software engineer for 25+ years I love open markets and open systems, but it is clear that Apple's closed and proprietary systems produce superior engineered systems that just plain work.

I've not been on Apple iPhone since the first Gen 1, but I'm tempted to go back. I resisted the MacBook move for the past 5 years while most of my peers kept talking about how superior it was to Windows. 6 months ago I made the change after 20+ years on Windows. I should have done it 6 years ago. Stuff just works. Period.

Nope, Rooting is NOT needed:

MacroDroid turns off System Sounds when it starts charging.

Works, i renamed the file with '.bak' at the end and there's no need to replace the file (if rooted)

On my wife's S5, I just simply set the volume on Notifications and System to Zero....

the only noise that my wife wants to hear out of a telephone is the Ringer. the rest of that crap is crap to her, so I just turned it all off.... she's happy, and that makes me happy.

when the kids send her a picture via MMS, I get a text to get her phone and show it to her. good enough.

Be careful when renaming the file. I did this and my kernel became unstable and WiFi ceased to work. So i had to dirty flash my rom again with Charger_Connection.ogg saved as a blank mp3 then converted to ogg. I saved this file in the folder of the zip of my rom before reflashing.

I figured it out for MacroDroid
Trigger: power connected
Action: set volume, check "notification" and have the slider all the way left.

The bad: you are going to miss all notifications when charging with it configured like this. Also you are running this app all the time with a persistent notification. I prefer not to root but it's certainly a more elegant solution to this method. Will try this for a while anyway.

It monitors for event changes, then performs a macro, and drops back to monitoring again.

I have been using it for years with never a whimper.

I only suggested this as a temp solution until the real problems is directly fixed.
It is being used on my wife's phone because she is a very light sleeper who can hear an ant walking in the dust.... any noise wakes her up.

It does not prevent phone calls ringing in, so for her, it does the job.

I found the sound notification is associated with specific charger. PowerBot has the problem - rendering it USELESS - sounds are emitted by S3 and S5 phones. RAVPower Wireless Charger Charging Pad is great - no annoying sounds.

You can use Sound Profile +volume schedule from the Play store.
You can set a profile for night
You can even schedule the profile to turn on at a certain time everyday
You need to modify the night profile (notification volume set to 0)
Activate the Blocklist.
You can set to receive calls from your contacts (or individual people) and incoming messages (need to select -Incoming messages: accept (even sound in silent)
This gets rid of the annoying charging notification but still accepts incoming messages and phone calls.
