Discord app disconnecting from voice chat overnight

I'm unsure if this is the appropriate area to post this since I am unsure if it's app-side or OS- side.

I sometimes like to sleep in server or DM voice chats with friends overnight. Sometimes when I wake up, I will see I have been kicked out with no indication as to why.

I never have connectivity issues otherwise, so why only does it happen overnight?

I have all battery optimization options switched off, tried unrestricting Discord tried locking the app, tried putting it in never sleeping and excluded from memory checks, nothing had proven fruitful.

I was curious who else ever experienced this or might have any insight.

hi, I just made an account today, you described the exact issue I'm having. After doing some research, I think the answer is that, after a period of time, discord has an inactivity feature that will disconnect you from the calls. Why? Well, I read that it's so discord can save resources. I'm unsure if it's bandwidth, or if it's "resources" on their end, but regardless, there's no way to disable it.

HOWEVER, I'm sure there's ways around it. A good example would be downloading some applications that allow you to transfer audio from, say you're streaming on Twitch, your Twitch chat, you can make a TTS audio source that gets moved into your discord microphone. I HAVE done that before, although it's been a while so I can't remember off the top of my head on how to do that.

What would be more helpful for you though would be the use of a capture card.
- I'm able to change my microphone to my capture cards audio, which would be my laptop (I stream using my PC, it uses OBS, while my laptop plays games (just games, to save resources)). So, my microphone would be set to all my desktop audio on my laptop.
I can turn on spotify or something and just play ambient noises from it. It should register as voice recognition, since it would be going through your discord microphone.

Edit: Someone mention that you could probably set up some autohotkey script that inputs keystrokes with intervals, just to keep discord thinking that you're still active. I have never done this before, but I'm pretty sure it would work, given that I've seen something like that be used for WoW (world of warcraft, MMO) to set up automatically fishing or something.

This is all PC stuff though. If you're on mobile, I can't think of anything that would help, but lets hope there's something out there for that. Although, the only thing that comes to mind is having microphone activity of some sort (being unmuted and having noise suppression turned off, maybe running a fan in the background. Worst case scenario, you'd have to have other people mute you on their end (you'd still be unmuted, just muted to them) until you are awake and end up texting them that they can unmute you lol)

I found out a fix -- I turned on a feature in the dev options where the screen stays on as long as the phone is plugged in; this means Discord can remain in the foreground the entire time and never lose connection. It's worked flawlwssly. I am assuming it is similar to like you said, that the app needs to be running at all times or else it will stop requesting internet connection or other things.

that's good to know for the mobile end! I was unsure on what would work for mobile, but I had a couple solutions in mind for PC

Super late to this, but where would one find this setting? I've been desperately trying to figure out ways to not disconnect when I'm trying to sleep with my partner. I have a Galaxy S21. I've been hoping there's a fix for me.
