Discount for Note 7 owners

I'm waiting when you start freaking out that other carriers have started shipping and samsung.com orders are not shipping yet ... You will swear that you will not order again from them etc ... Was that on Note 7 or S8?

I remember from N7!

Ditto for my wife, though what research could one do? When that all went down, there were no clear cut expectations laid out by Samsung or the carriers. It was all speculation, some of which included an end to the Note line all together. So now it seems a lot of people were forced into phones they didn't want, were given no idea what you expect, and now being blindsided with the "special" offer that requires them to pay off a large balance at once to claim it.

At the time I got my S7E, I chatted with 2 reps. I was told both times my upgrade date would revert back to Sept 19 when I got my 1st N7. Now I'm being told I have to wait till either Nov 19 or pay half which at this point is 100. I'm going to fight with my printed out chats and have faith they'll honor that. If not, I have other options so this isn't a big deal for me. But others of you, it's a huge deal and it's sad alot of people may still come out on the losing end. There's a part of me that thinks the net will widen though. I think people who have to wait due to their present circumstances may still be able to cash in on the Perks later; maybe holiday time. Hang in there

Wow. You have a piece of gold there lol. Alright I wish they would give me the 50% option. Verizon is telling me I have to pay it completely off. $528

It's pretty sad that my wife has the s8 and only has to pay $173.

You continue to be lost. Roughly all of your posts so far in this thread either are inaccurate or so confusing that it just doesn't make any sense. You cant lease a device and also have to pay half before upgrading. All leases on tmobile are JOD which allows you to upgrade at any time , no matter what you owe because its a lease, not an installment plan. People who have to pay off 50% are not leasing the device. They purchased the device and paying in installments (EIP). They are the ones who must pay down 50% to be able to upgrade. And im sorry, but if you signed an EIP less than 6 months ago and now want a note 8, then you have to eat the cost. That's how life and depreciation works. You signed the EIP knowing very well that there would be many other phones coming out within the next few months and that your phone would not be worth near what you paid for it in 6 months. If you cant afford to pay off your phone balance and then put in extra cash for the note 8, then you shouldn't be looking at a $1000 phone.

There isn't a need to be rude or call people out on a poorly structured message. You say people can only blame themselves for the device they are using now after the N7 recalls but you don't seem to realize that not all have the same options. I am on an EIP because it was the only option available to me. The overarching sentiment is that more should be done when it comes to giving the discount for those of us that are former N7 owners meaning we shouldn't be forced into purchasing it from only one outlet to get the discount. We all jumped through hoops to return our recalled devices and spent hours of our time dealing with whatever fallout followed.

But seriously, let's all just be nice to each other. It isn't worth the irritation and no one benefits from being mean.

Lolz! I def remember that!

Um, I don't know what you are talking about but everyone qualifies who bought a Note 7, regardless of where you got it. I bought mine from Tmobile and the Samsung site qualifies me with my email. As long as you had a Samsung account and logged into it on the note 7 It should of registered you as an owner. I already ordered mine and will be sending in a $60 iphone 5 I bought on ebay for the $425 credit.

...and, on top of what hypnospastic said, they can take your $60 iPhone 5 and decide something isn't right with it, then send you a $25 credit instead of a $425 credit - that's what scared me away from doing it. It happened to a lot of folks during the S8/S8+ pre-order period... just go back and look through the S8 forum!!!

I decided to roll the dice for the $425 since I know it's in mint condition and anything other than that amount I know is BS on their part.

My dad also has an S5 laying around. I thought about using that instead but it being an older phone I'd figure they'd find something wrong with it.

Does anybody know if you can trade-in a phone from a different carrier (than the carrier that you currently have)? For example, I trade-in an ATT phone, but purchase a Verizon Note 8 through Samsung.

Will this be an issue? Does Samsung even care?

Don't think it makes a difference, but why purchase a Verizon Note 8 rather than unlocked you can use with any carrier?

Wifi calling, HD calling doesn't not always work with unlocked version. I don't think it does with Verizon on the S8.

This is why I went with the Tmobile version to play it safe. With the V20 US unlocked version wifi calling didn't work with tmobile.

To troll elsewhere
The Note 7 fiasco robbed loyal Note phone users of the phone they really wanted. So yeah, Samsung should make it right for all Note 7 folks to get a Note 8 at Samsung's expense. This BS $425 discount spread over 24 months is a supposed be solely for all note 7 customers, but if you still owe on a phone you had no choice but to buy because Samsung kept the phone you traded in for that Note 7, then you can't even take advantage of this deal. If Samsung were to give all Note 7 folks that $425 as an up front cash payout, then everyone could use that cash as they see fit (pay off a current phone if that is the case) and then they will all have the opportunity, "Again" to return to the Note line and get the newest Note phone, which is what they all wanted in the first place.

The unlocked version will work 100% with Verizon service and with all the Verizon bands and call features?

I just ordered my Note 8 via samsung. Will they send a shipping label and stuff with it to ship my S7 Edge back to them?
Wait. You said you weren't going to pre-order any more. Do I win something for making this prediction a while back?

I completely agree with your post hoeever, to simplify things, Samsung should make it a discount available through them AND the carriers to be totally fair. I think the cash layout would have been harder to implement and much more difficult to obtain. IDK, just my thoughts for what their worth.
