Discount for Note 7 owners

Is it true ...
or just a wish ....?

"Note 7 owners who go to Samsung.com will receive an instant trade-in value of up to $425 (about £330 or $AU540) when you upgrade your current phone for a Galaxy Note 8. It's gratifying to see Samsung make good with 2016's endangered, inconvenienced buyers. Moreover, it's the final step Samsung needed to take to finally put the Note 7 disaster to rest..."

So the $425 dollar discount will only be through Samsung? Is that why other carriers are offering their own discounts for Note 7 users?

Re: Note 8 users stuck with a Galaxy S8+ should be allowed tobe upraded to note 8

I endured the note 7 fiasco returned the phone Twice. So it's only fair Samsung get in contact with our carriers to allow us to upgrade early for example. I'm stuck with a Galaxy 8plus. I would love to have the note 8. I've had every note since the 2nd one came out. How about starting a petition to make this happen?

They already refunded you and took the devices back in any condition. Sorry -- they can't just constantly hand out free things.

Also Samsung can't tell another business what to do.

Of course they had to take devices in any condition...they were defective.

Some people, justifiably so, feel they should get the same treatment Korean customers received. Why not?

Sadly Samsung isn't doing that so those people will just have to live with it. Samsung isn't a US company so I am not shocked their home country gets better deals -- Just like we get better deals on things they don't.

If that is how it is done I won't do it. Swore I would never buy from them again after last year. I will just sell my s7e after I get my note 8

I would do that. After the s8 trade in thing I wouldn't trust sending a almost like new device to them and then get told it's only worth $25 due to being damaged.

I agree - I got refunds for both my regular Note 7 and my Replacement Note 7 and feel I was treated more than fairly. I will not place an order with Samsung.com to try and squeeze some more $$$ out of the company! On September 15th when my AT&T Store takes delivery... "reach out... reach out 'cuz... I'll be there to love and comfort one!"

Somebody on Facebook commented to a Samsung post about the Note 8.

I am with you on this!!

Discount... Only if you order direct from Samsung. So not cool.

Can't find the article, but is this the up to $425 for former Note owners for giving your old phone up? If so no way I'd touch this with a 15 ft pole after this recent fiasco with the S8 Promo and like new phones getting rejected. You're better off trading it in in person at your carrier, or going to Best Buy. I'd never trust sending in a working device and hoping for the best.

After my ordeal of getting my Note 7 refund from my carrier I'm NOT ready to have another dispute over a trade in with Samsung.com

My BF, who had a Note 7, forced onto an S7 Edge, called his carrier Verizon and was told as of today Aug 23, Verizon is only offering a trade in of up to $480 on an old, paid in full, phone ( contingent on phone model and condition) to "All and any Verizon customer" who wants a Note 8. They said they have no knowledge at the present, of any other offers exclusively for previous note 7 owners. My friend still owes a few hundred on his S7 Edge so the Verizon tech said he would have to pay off the balance in full first.

I guess Samsung doesn't know its customer base....or maybe they do. Most people don't buy their phones outright. Note7 users would undoubtedly go to another premium phone, which they know will be worth at least $425 still.
It's a PR stunt that appears "good news" at face value, especially if the news agencies catch wind of it and glorify Samsung for the move. In the end, Samsung knows that there won't be a ton of people taking them up on their offer and they win in the end. It also states "up to $425". So, it's at their discretion. Don't assume if you have an S7 or S7E that you will qualify for the full $425.
I wasn't expecting Samsung to do anything else for former Note7 owners. But, this is almost worse as most Note7 owners won't benefit from this.

I agree. Plus, with the s8 promo that was similar with the trade ins. Better off selling the phone outright or trading it in at the carrier in person.

They need to quote specific price for working phones in good condition
Other wise its like playing the lottery

Not sure if this was mentioned, but I just watched a CNET video, and they said in that video that it's an INSTANT credit when you order the Note 8 on Samsung.com for previous Note 7 owners for the Up to $425 depending on the device. No waiting for the credit or refund.
