Discount for Note 7 owners

Yes, im assuming each phone will have a different value assigned to it..

I wonder if Note 7's can be traded in? I'm pre-ordering two Note 8's. Being able to trade in my two Note 7's for a substantial discount would be nice.

Lmao. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Lmao. Seriously tho. I don't know. They might if they want the phones back. May I ask why didn't you turn them in at recall?

They didn't want them back. After several phone calls, emails and walking into two stores, I couldn't get rid of them. I wasn't going to jump through hoops to return them. They knew I had them, all they had to do was simply send a box to return them. I wasted more time, effort and gas than I should of. The whole process was a mess. After a couple weeks I just gave up and stopped trying. I know a lot of people who did the same.

I know what you mean. I don't know why I thought it was funny. So I hope you didn't take offense to that. Yeah the 2nd note7 I got for the replacement it took verizon a month or so to send me the box. When it came it was 2 but I only needed to send one back cause they already got the first one. So guess I got a box if it happens again. But hey I'm glad you didn't have the exploding issue tho.

Our Note 7's (my son and I) make great mini tablets. Been using them all this time with our drones. No issues at all. But still don't trust them to charge them unattended. And when not in use they get stored in a metal box. Just never know.

I guess we can use our S7 Edges as trade in's and keep using the Note 7's if that's what Verizon / Samsung really wants.

Yeah. There were lovely phones tho wasn't they? What color did you and your son get? I had the blue coral

This is cool! However a HUGE caution about trading in. You guys know about the s8 trade in promo fiasco right? People turning in fully functioning phones and only getting $25. Also depends on the phone to get up to $425.

Just pointing it out before people start jumping on this and then get ticked off that they didn't get the assumed amount. If you have a newer phone like S7 Edge you might want to see how much Best Buy or your carrier offer for it. If it is close or a little less than what Samsung is offering I would take that instead and getting the peace of mind of trading it in in person. I would never trust sending a device off for a stranger to assess the price of it. I have a mint condition S7 Edge. I just don't trust sending it away and having another nightmare again.

If the 425 is for something like the S8 Plus I will just sell it after getting the Note 8 in order to avoid a possible mess with sending it to Samsung and rolling the dice.

Hopefully the S7E is eligible for this 50% discount. I'll be quite upset if it's only for the S8 or S8+ crowd

Same here. I got the s7 edge and S8 Plus. No way in hell I'm sending them my S8 Plus and then they say it's not in working condition and offered $25. I'll sell it outright then.

I could probably order the Note 8 and then sell both on Swappa and recoup a lot of the cost or trade in for unlocked at Best Buy.

To get the discount I wonder if you have to go where you bought the note 7? I bought mine from Samsung.com and had to use them to swap for the s7e. Didn't want to go back through them again but would be worth it to get a discount.

Not sure but I hope it's thru the carrier even though Tmobile was a epic nightmare to get my Note 7 refund back from. If you ever read my threads about it getting to the point where I was going to get the AG and local media involved.

I would not trust sending a working phone to Samsung's third party to trade in. Read about the S8 promo and people sending in working phones only to get $25 because the phone wasn't "working" even though they were mint condition.

I was referring to the Verizon discount offering 50% off by trading in an older device. I think I got my threads mixed up lol

Sounds like you waited past the time period to return them. That is why. Your own fault. I can promise you they won’;t give you hardly a thing for them if at all.

I've still got my Note 7 return paperwork with serial number from AT&T- I can't believe I actually kept it. May (or may not) come in handy during this? I hate to let the S7 Active go but it would probably bring more trade-in value than the Note 5 would? We'll know tomorrow...

...and "YES", the Live Reveal sold me!

Yes, really looking forward to getting this. A year has been a long wait.
Just got to find out if this discount is legit.

Deal on Note 8 for former Note 7 owners - anyone going to bite on this?

https://www.phonedog.com/2017/08/23/samsung-galaxy-note-8-deal-note-7-owners

Just saw this today - "Samsung will give U.S. Galaxy Note 7 owners a discount of up to $425 on the Galaxy Note 8. To get this deal, you’ll just need to trade in your current device. The offer will be available starting tomorrow, August 24th, on Samsung.com."

I'm guessing there's more than a few former Note 7 owners like myself on this S8 forum and this offer is intriguing. I loved my Note 7 and was sad to turn it in, but I've been quite pleased with my S8+ and hadn't seen any major reason to upgrade right away to the new Note as the specs are very similar - same screen quality (although slightly larger), same processor, etc.

I had concerns about the smaller battery in the Note 8 pushing a slightly larger screen and more RAM (6gb vs 4gb in the S8). One big thing I'd really like is the dual camera with optical zoom as zooming with the S8+ is pretty useless for good pix. S-pen would be nice to have again too, but not the most important thing for me.

I guess I'll wait and see the early reviews and tests of the Note to see how battery life compares to our phone and if the camera is as good as advertised before looking into this any further. If battery life is a lot less, that could be a deal breaker as my S7 edge didn't have good battery life and drove me nuts. S8+ manages battery life a ton better.

Question - anyone know if this discount offer would be able to be used to pay off the current phone that us former Note 7 owners have now (in my case S8+ with over $300 to payoff on the annual upgrade plan on Verizon) or would we have to pay that out of pocket and only get a discount on the Note 8?
