Discount for Note 7 owners

My whole issue is that Samsung (or Verizon) will not allow the discount to be applied to the balance due on my S7E. I didn't get the S7 because I wanted it, I got it because I was forced to return two Note 7's. If I could have kept my Note 7, I'd be using it today and this would be a non issue. But I was forced to downgrade, the present discount would pay off my S7 and I could upgrade as normal. I'm not asking for the discount and a payoff of my S7, just to allow me to use the discount in a way that works so I can get back to the Note family.

Again, you want to ignore all the people that were left high and dry. Basic mathematics doesn't show that it was a full refund. But good for them. Way to show the customer they're "wrong" rather than fixing the issue they caused.
Who was left high and dry? I bought a note 7 .. I went through everything everyone else did.. and yet I still got what I want. What am I missing here?

*raises hand* just because you weren't doesn't mean other weren't and that was already explained.

Some definitely did but most complaints I'm seeing are people who got refunded and bill credits on top of it.. but still expect more.

Exactly, we haven't heard from a single person who didn't get a refund.

Some people got refunded and bill credits but got stuck with phones they did not want or didn't get their original phones back and on top of it lost their upgrade or Jump depending on the plan they had. Is that fair to the customer because of Samsung's mistake?

Not getting your original phone back and having to choose a different phone because of it, is the problem.

The second problem is a discount that isn't truly a discount right now.

No one got a free phone or feels entitled to a free phone. Personally, I got a refund for the N7 I had bought but had to get the LG V20 which I didn't WANT. Was promised $25 credit from TMob which was never received.

If you are going to give a discount, just give one or don't. But this bogus discount with a trade of whatever value they want to apply to the phone you send in, which doesn't apply to carriers customers? Helps how? and really who? Gimme a break.

People are just tired of being screwed by companies for their own profit meanwhile, the consumer is being left high and dry.

There are more horror stories all over this site than good stories of the N7.

People that are complaining are rightfully complaining without any entitlement involved when you read the stories carefully.

Thank the Lord I am keeping my S8+ and I still have my Jump upgrade left in case I wanted to go the N8 route. But I feel for those who can't upgrade, got stuck with a phone they didn't want, and was promised all sorts of things.

Samsung has a business to run and we as consumers our business is to protect our pockets. If that is a sense of entitlement so be it. IJS. :D

Most of you didn't have the hellish experience I had trying to get my refund from Tmobile. I returned my Note 7 to a Tombile store and the store botched it up. They only refunded me the sales tax and then said how the rest of the refund would take a few days. Never came and then I ended up arguing back and forth with the 800 people and Tforce. They kept saying to wait another week. Then they finally said I had to go back to the store for the refund since they processed it wrong. Drove 35 miles to the store and they said it was passed 14 days. Then another month of arguing for my money back.

This took a total of 3 months to get my refund. I finally tried Tforce one more time and got someone who was on the ball and my card got refunded back in 3 days after countless excuses and hours on the phone. That was my last option before I was going to email local news reporters about doing a story on it and contacting the attorney general and BBB.

So someone like me has some room to complain after that ordeal.

This doesn't surprise me. You were dealing with T-Mobile.

OK, but who was supposed to pay for it? Me? I had already paid a year on the one I traded. So now I have to pay AGAIN for one used and abused by someone else? No thanks.

So the Note 5 you traded in wasn't fully paid off?

We could make this the OP. You just restated almost all of one side's points very adeptly.

All you have to do is tell whatever carrier you're with that you're going to go to another carrier unless they let you upgrade early because of last year's Note 7 Fiasco and tell them that you're a loyal customer and you don't want to jump ship soon as you tell them that they should waive whatever fees or left on that phone and let you preorder the note8 believe me it works

Didn't even have to say I would jump ship. Told the rep that I had the Note 7 and was very happy with it. I bought s8+ and have been dissatisfied and missed the features on a Note. Verizon is allowing me to upgrade early, about 7 months early, so I had to pay the sales tax and will upgrade. No other discounts but I will get the upgrade now instead of waiting another 8 months or paying $300+ to get to half my term.

Are they the worse for that? At least I purchase my phones outright and don't do payment plans and other stuff. I hear that was a real mess to sort out. My samsung direct last time worked out fine. Hopefully this time it does too and I'll just keep purchasing from them or the unlocked version from best buy. I'm waiting to see if they keep doing timely updates on the unlocked version before I pull the trigger when I buy the Note 9.

Was promised $25 credit from TMob which was never received.

Was that $25 credit supposed to be per Note 7 purchased? Did it apply to both recalls? I never received a $25 credit. Not of any of the Note 7's (four total) or either recall.

The $25 credit was supposed to be for the N7 ordeal whether or not you did 2 returns. You would only get (1) $25 refund. I called twice and was told next billing cycle, 4 months later I asked again and was told next billing cycle. I just stopped asking because I figured it wasn't gonna happened. And it never did. I am over it. It's not killing my bank account but again a promise made and not kept.

I still owe $500 to AT&T for my S7E which was the next best thing once the N7 was killed once and for all. I'll wait and see the iPhone 8 reveal to decide what to do. It would basically cost me $1000 out of pocket plus the trade-in (I have an iPhone 5 or an iPhone 6+ I could trade). I almost feel like I should trade the pristine iPhone 5, get the Note 8 at a discount outright, and then sell it for profit unopened. What's wrong with that plan to pocket some extra cash? I'm platform agnostic, but miss Apple, just looking for a way to take advantage of what Samsung is offering after last year's fiasco.

Update. Verizon canceled my order!! A manager decided not to honor the negotiated deal I made and a supervisor approved. I even got the confirmation email. Now they won't honor the agreement. And to adds insult to injury they sent an email saying I CANCELED the order.

That stinks. Sucks Verizon can't stand behind their promises. One of the many reasons I left Verizon.

Wow, unreal, I do believe it unfortunately. I have had bad experiences with them. The only positive spin I can offer is that maybe they are going to offer something for people in your position with the s7e? A poster said vzw told him they are working on a deal for us.

Update. Well I was really pissed by the time I got home. Called Verizon again and was elevated to a manager. He got the original offer re-established and now my Note 8 is on order and I have a 218 credit to my current bill. I guess it is true the squeaky wheel does get greased. ***** loud and often is my new mantra when dealing with Verizon. Now I just have wait and see if it all works out.

Hope they keep the deal this time

Be careful with unlocked devices on T-Mobile. I just left them because my service dropped off almost completely because I purchased an unlocked phone.
