Display charging percentage while off?

Ever since the update to 4.3, the HTC One has had a charging display that comes on while charging with the phone off. It will display the current percent with an animated battery for a minute and then turn back off. Is there a way to make that appear again without turning on the phone to check the percentage? It seems like there would be, but I haven't figured it out if there is.

Have you tried just pressing the power button once? Or disconnect the power cable and reconnect and it should come up again?
