Do I need MR2 (leaked)?

My situation...

Phone working good. Only issues is occasional loss of all data for 5 minutes or so during less than optimal data signal conditions. IOW, it occasionally takes a minute or two (or more) to transition from 4G to 3G or no data at all, until I get a data connection back.

No reboots. I'm at MR1 now. No issues with MR1, in fact, better.

So, would the MR2 (non-rooted update) help me, or not?

I'm a little afraid if I move to the MR2 (leaked) that I might start getting reboots.

Anyone?

I'm not really into rooting unless I think it will improve my radios.

I used to have very infrequent reboots on 3G and infrequent data connectivity issues on 4G. I finally let Verizon replace my phone and so far haven't had either problem for the past 5 days. My CLNR is perfect, less wear & tear (actually none) than on my launch day phone. Personally I have no need for MR2 or GB.

Thanks, Robrecht

I recommend the MR2 leak. I installed same day that I got it and no issues. No reboots. My friend got his thunderbolt and used it for a week before I got around to rooting it and installing MR2. He was getting 1x at his house. As soon as he was on MR2 he got 3g at his house. I believe the leak will help you and you will not get reboots from it. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for your input. One reason this issue is difficult to compare is because anything with radios always depends heavily on your specific environment. Hilly here, not there. Inside here, outside there. Driving here, staying put there, etc.

I think since I'm not really having any serious issues - I don't consider an occasional 30-sec/1.5 minute wait for a data (typical) transition to be serious - I think I'll wait for the OTA. I don't mind waiting even a month or so since I'm operating pretty well anyway. And it might even have a more recent radio than the present MR(2.5).

All the OS/Sense/App talk is interesting, but to me that's not much of a motivator. It's all about basic functionality for me (Voice, Email, Text, Internet, Syncing with the Cloud).

Again, thanks!

If your problems are only "occasional" I would stick with what you have. I only recommend people install leaked software if the official is causing significant issues with the phone, meaning making it so they cant or can barely use it. It's entirely possible that your problems have nothing to do with the software and are entirely network related.

If you are not experiencing any significant problems i would recomend staying put until Verizon comes out with a new an improved update.

When i got my phone on day one the only problem i had was almost no sound on my videos. When MR1 came out i was absolutely thrilled that it fixed my video sound, and then came the random reboots. When that problem got tiresome i decided to root my phone and try out the MR2 with The Perfect Storm ROM. The reboots stopped but my data started dropping and i had terrible gps problems. Basically, my phone got worse!(imagine that). I decided that the reboots were the lesser evil so i unrooted the phone and am back to stock MR1. The weird part is i have now gone 3 full days without a reboot and my phone seems to be better than it ever was.

Bottom line is, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Each phone is different. What works for one phone might not jive with another.

I'd say stay put if i were you...

Agreed. Words to live by. :)
