My former Nexus 4, current Nexus 5, G3 and G4 devices are all LG-made, and all are good, reliable, high-quality performers. A friend is now enjoying the Nexus 4 as, I believe, its third owner. 4 out of 4 good 'uns is pretty impressive, I'd say.

Why would you think your experience with one LG phone applies to all LG phones? It would be like someone with a defective s6 telling people to avoid all Samsung phones. Btw, my 2+ year old G2 still works great as a backup phone and media device.

Both of my kids use an LG phone but different models, and both are working just fine now for over 2 years. If theirs had this problem I'm sure I would have heard about it a long time ago.. So which particular LG phone are you experiencing this problem with?

As for losing pictures you should be making backups of those anyway. After all this is an electronic device that is subject to fail at any given moment. It may not be today, next month, or a couple of years from now, but it will fail eventually. So it's better to be prepared for that failure in advance...

I am assuming she is referring to the LG G4 and the famous faulty motherboard on these phones with serial 505 to 508. LG acknowledges the issue and will fix or replace the affected phones under warranty.
