People act like they were forced to use this design and couldn't fit a bigger battery. They could have designed it however they wanted, or simply made it thicker. They didnt want to. Yes, I believe that Samsung was more interested in upgrading the components on the phone and moving on from the Note 7 recall than concerned about battery capacity.

Sounds like they made the right choice.
If you open up a cell phone there really isn't any extra space going unused. I believe a bigger battery would of resulted in a thicker phone.
I believe Samsung has a size spec they wanted to meet. In order to fit a battery, all the other components, and the S Pen, the Note 8 had to have a 3300 mAh battery.
