Do you keep a bunch of apps open in the background?

Right now I'm still on a Pixel 3 so I really don't have to close them out, it does it for me :) That said I do manage it a little, maybe once or twice a day but not like I used to, closing them before I locked the phone every time back when we didn't have a lot of RAM and the OS wasn't as efficient. I usually close all of them when I go to bed.

As for restarting, I update apps when I wake up, then restart. Just an OCD habit I've done for years.

I am planning to get an S20 in the near future so I am looking forward to the extra RAM and battery.

Long time no see, Theot! Hope you are well! You're not interested in getting the Pixel 4? I wasn't either. I have the S10 and will keep an eye on the Pixel 5 when it comes out. I love my Samsung phone but I do miss the Pixel experience.

Hey Morty, doing good thanks. No interest in the Pixel 4. I want a more versatile device, a camera with telephoto and wide angle and good video taking ability, great screen and good battery life. Pixel doesn't offer that and I don't trust google to get it right. I dislike some parts of the "Pixel experience" as well, particularly the launcher. I honestly prefer the Oneplus and oxygen OS experience the best but I don't like the size and heft of their devices and I think the upcoming hole punch design on both the OP8 and Pixel 4a series is just awful so I'm looking elsewhere. I'm not in love with the Samsung experience either but I can fix most of it with a launcher and icon pack. The camera, battery, RAM and screen of the S20 offer enough to make me want to give Samsung another go as I haven't been on one since the S7 because of the heavily curved screens and bixby button.

Lately I have not been closing apps, unless I was about to restart the device.

To add, often when I go to open an app that I had opened earlier, I still forget to check the recently used apps. I tend to go and look for the app, in the app drawer. LOL

That's me as well. I pretty much only use the recently use app in order to close an app I don't want open. I never use it to go back to an app. I do use the swipe between apps a lot though.

Is that using Google gestures, with Nova Launcher or something?

Works basically the same as on iOS. Swipe on the bottom bar inside an app will take you to the last app used.

I can assure his previous phone wasn't that old, since I see him in pretty much every Samsung pre-order thread. Like many others he built up a habit over the years of closing all apps frequently. It's muscle memory, after a while it's hard to turn it off. Throw in a little ocd then it's pretty much impossible to stop.
I've seen fellofftruck in the forums for several phones being released. He starts out that he's not getting it, to maybe, to we are talking him into it, to I want to order it but the biggest memory one is delayed do you think I can walk into the store on release date and get one.

Can assure you his phone isn't old, just like mine.
