do you miss the headphone jack?

There are lots of great Bluetooth options.
I get that some people are stuck or prefer wired. I'm one of those that prefers wired and that's where the minor inconvenience of the dongle comes in. If someone can't deal with the dongle there are other options out there at the moment. As time passes most likely less options. It may seem like a drawback right now, however I'm of the mindset that this spells out a new market of options in the near future in terms of audio output.

I've been using LG tones for years now so not really. I use a cassette adapter in my 2003 Honda with the other end is a 3.5 mm jack but I just plug that into my good old BlackBerry mini stereo speaker that acts as a Bluetooth pass through and they are like $11 on Amazon. so I'm wireless in the car too.

So I don't really care. haven't even used the adapter.

Flicked via the BlackBerry keyboard on my Pixel 2

I don't understand. How does the presence of a headphone jack preclude you from using your Sony headphone?

It doesn't. I prefer not having an unneeded and useless hole in my phone. As always, your mileage may vary.

I miss the headphone jack.

I have a bunch of wired headphones.

Couldn't find the dongle on e bay so I bought 2 from the Google store.

I am missing it but I'm learning to work around it. And finding out the HTC dongle works with the Pixel 2, I'm good now.

I miss the headphone jack. I use Bluetooth for working out and doing yard work, but prefer a wired ear bud for taking conference calls. The dongle has worked fine for me so far but it's just something extra to deal with.

Hopefully Google doesn't follow apple's lead next year by dropping the fingerprint scanner.

Good luck with that. I have done a lot of research, and I have only found crap. I don't think I have ever found one with more than 2.5 star reviews. The key here is that I want in-ear, not over the ear like AirPods. And carrying around big clamp-on types is not an option. I want something I can put in my pocket. Maybe someday there will be a good set available, but until then, this really sucks...

Im exactly on the same boat: compact I could put in pocket and true cordless would be good too. im realizing the same thing: nothing perfect out there, based on reviews.

I think it's telling that Google included a dongle that included a good DAC and a fairly powerful amp... Not matching V30 levels, but good enough to best near every phone out there that didn't put in a high performance DAC/amp. The digital audio spec for USB-C is a year old... It needs to be shown off.

Most phones just use the audio stuff in the SoC... Even something like the Note 8 has mediocre audio output... Yet they included since fairly decent quality buds. Take those Note 8 buds and plug them into the pixel 2 and they'll sound much better.

Accessories manufacturers need to get on board here. Once we start getting high end stuff with onboard DAC/amps, people may stop complaining. Even cheaper priced stuff... There's no reason why we can't have a $50 pair of headphones that can pull power over USB-C and give excellent sound.

There's' absolutely no valid reason to omit a headphone jack. Other than to sell additional peripherals, which is what this was really all about to start with.

Not one bit. Picked up some cheap $35 headphones from Amazon and they sound indifferent from wired headphones. It's actually better when you don't have to fumble around with wires.

Shrug. Looks at her Moto Z Play. Nope, it's still there! Ask me again in 2019 when I replace my phone.

I do miss the headphone jack though. I went to an iphone 7 plus and I hated not having the headphone jack. I hate having to worry if my headphones are charged or not, even though some have excellent battery life. Also i love the quality of the sound that the headphone jack produces. I went with the lg v30 specifically for the headphone jack and I do not regret it. I do not want to have to use a dongle just to be able to plug in headphones. Also the battery dies faster when using bluetooth headphones.

I disagree because if you lose that dongle that came with it and go with a 3rd party you wont get as good a sound. It just gets worse. I also like to charge my phone while using wired headphones

I haven't used a wired headset in about 3-4 years. I am not an audiophile, so I don't listen to much music, but I listen to Podcasts and Streamed Media all the time, and love the freedom of BT

Not at all. Been years since I used the headphone jack on a phone. I did recently get some bluetooth headphones to replace my old failing single ear piece. Good upgrade for that rare occasion I listen to music on my phone.

Yes.

I broke the jack on my phone. I miss:
1- FM radio. no jack = no FM radio.
2- convenience.I had to buy 2 BT headsets (just for one to be full... usually) and charge them each night
3- price/performance. BT is worse than wired at the same price point. And you've got to buy 2.
