do you miss the headphone jack?

Yes.

I broke the jack on my phone. I miss:
1- FM radio. no jack = no FM radio.
2- convenience.I had to buy 2 BT headsets (just for one to be full... usually) and charge them each night
3- price/performance. BT is worse than wired at the same price point. And you've got to buy 2.

You broke the Jack on your phone?
Is this on a Pixel 2?

Hu hu.

Honestly, I don't know what happened. It was a night of drinking, and the next morning my first thought upon waking up was "****, and now the jack on my phone is broken". I checked, it was. No idea how it happened, though I did remember it did through the alcoholic haze.
This is on a Xiaomi Mi Max.

Hey all,

Considering picking up a pixel 2 but am concerned with the lack of a dedicated headphone jack. Do those of you who have the phone miss the jack?

I looked at this phone and decided to get a Note 8... why ? Because of a headphone jack. I have some really nice earbuds that I use all the time and I DONT want another device I need to charge.

I don't think I would ever buy a mobile phone with out a headphone jack. It's important when I do outdoor projects for me.

Oh....the thread is based on the Pixel 2 which doesn't have a traditional jack for audio built it but they give you an adapter.

You could still use your earbuds or headphones with the adapter provided.

They are expensive, but the Bowers and Wilkins PX headphones make me not miss the headphone jack at all. They have amazing sound, and I couldn't be happier. Also if you must remain connected, they also work directly with USB-C on the pixel 2, no dongle necessary.

The friends I have who use it do not. Apparently the dongle, though easy to lose or forget, works really well! :)

But you could just leave it connected to the headphones. A nice 3.5mm connection isn't exactly easily disconnected if the thing on the other end is as light as a dongle.

For sure! I'll probably do this if and when I buy a phone without a headphone jack.

Another thing to get lost. As it's something I would not use every day. It's just companies trying to be cheaper in making phones.

Like I said, I wont buy another phone with out a head phone jack. The Note 8 seems to do everything I need for now...

Apple does something so everyone else has to copy ?

Nope! ... Plus the OG Pixel's have the headphone jack and are very similar to the 2's and really well priced. Why not just buy that model if you just gotta have a Pixel with that type of access?

Apple was not the first, Motorola was and Samsung is next. It may seem inconvenient to some, however it opens up a lot of possibilities. I felt the same way you did a year ago but I've since changed my mind

Exactly....I ordered a second one for 9 dollars for my earbuds.
Minor inconvenience and great sound.

Not at all.I use my B&W P7`s with the dongle and my AKG 50 BT`s via bluetooth, both excellent sound.

Until there are reliable splitter adapters available (that allow 3.5 and charging at the same time) I won't buy a phone without 3.5 jack. Once splitters are available (that actually work) I really don't care.

If cost was the primary motivation behind the omission of the headphone jack, I don't think Google would've included the dongle which I bet costs as much as - if not more than - an integrated 3.5mm jack.

They are available for pixel in the Google store

I am trying to get used to using the phone with the dongle. I dont really miss the headphone jack, until i need to charge AND listen to music on my earphones.

BTW, anyone knows how to remap the earphone controls? I downloaded several apps but they dont seem to work. I got a pair of earphones which i cannot seem to skip tracks, only pause/ play. Any idea why?
