Do you think the G5 will be reliable?

Hey everybody. I only ask this question because of supposed issues with the last two LG flagships.

In 2014 I was looking for a new phone and had set my heart on a G3. It seemed like everything I wanted and generally had good reviews on various websites. But, when I dug a little deeper I found that a seemingly common fault with the phone was that it would turn itself off for no reason, and that the only way to rectify this was to remove the battery and re-insert it. This actually prevented me from buying the phone in the end. Then the G4 came along, and it now transpires that many users have the boot loop problem.

These major issues with previous phones in the G series are making me worry about the potential unreliability of the G5. If I were to buy a new phone the G5 would be right up there, but I find myself doubting LG's ability to make a phone that doesn't have a major flaw

If you start reducing your options for technology by their potential unreliability instead of their proven unreliability then you will never buy anything.

Things happen. Does it suck when they happen to you? Sure it does because it's inconvenient at the time. Nothing that is mass manufactured is 100% reliable. That's the world we live in.

If LG hadn't gone backwards in screen size and shifted away from back buttons, I would be considering it. But after having the V10 for the past 4 months, no way I'm going back to that small of a screen.

Yeah I completely get what you're saying. No manufacturer can guarantee 100% reliability for its products, I know that. Mobile phones can have various downfalls, quirks or faults, it's just that the last two G series phones have had what I would consider to be quite serious faults, ones which would ruin my enjoyment of the phone had I bought one. So with that track record I can't help feeling a little reticent when it comes to potentially buying the G5.

Let me put it this way:

If the last two times you walked past a certain person they had punched you in the face, wouldn't you feel rather nervous walking past them for the third time?

I never owned the g3 or g4. But I loved my g2. My only negative on it was 16gb and no expandable memory. The only reason I didn't keep it was a swift drop on concrete.

Lol. Well if someone punched me in the face once, it would be the last time, I guarantee that.

Over the last few years, between myself and the others on my account, we have had a G2, (2) G3's, (5) G4's, and a V10. Not a single phone has failed, had a major issue, or required a factory reset. All been great devices. Also had a few Samsung devices and those have been fine as well.

Any manufacturer is subject to potential failure or unreliability. If you do enough reading, you can find problems with any device.

I wouldn't discount the G5 just because of some problems in previous lines of phones from them.

That's encouraging to hear about all of those LG phones and not a single problem

I've had the Optimus G, G2, G3 and now a G4 and have never had one single problem with any of them. I used to only buy Samsung's but always had to get a replacement at one time or another. My G4 is a launch day phone also, which seems to have most of the bootloop issues but mine is doing great! "Nocking on wood"... Not sure yet if I'm upgrading to the G5 yet till I physically see it and I want to see what HTC has with the M10. May just stick with the G4 and my four batteries I have for it!
