Do you think we will start hearing complaints when Gingerbread rolls out to the EVO?

I was just visiting the Sprint forums and there's lots of disgruntled NS4G customers there too. There was an interesting post over there about Gingerbread being rolled out the EVO in a few weeks. I am now wondering if all the EVO people will start experiencing what some of you are experiencing with signal issues? I don't have those issues since getting a new Airave at home and I really didn't have any complaints while I am out and about either. My town does not have 4G so I don't know anything about that. We will have to keep an eye on the EVO forum to see what happens over there after the update. Should be very interesting.......

On my Evo I was on gingerbread 2.3.4 without any issue. I don't think HTC would release a radio version that hurt the phone. I think people will always complain about something bit I don't think the radio on the Evo with gingerbread is one of them.

I don't think the issues with the Nexus S are that bad. I have a slightly weaker connection, but that's it. I haven't dropped a call at all and my data speeds seem to be OK. But a fix should be coming soon. We just need to have patience.

Hey dwaynewilliams, what are your data speeds?
Did you compare them to the phone you had before the NS4G? I am curious. I have an EPIC and where i am located at sprints 3G speeds are getting slower and slower.

Thanks

The Evo has already been out for a year so the big problems were worked out LONG ago. The radio problems aren't in Gingerbread itself or other phones would have the same problem. It's the software for our specific phone.

Well, the EVO has Gingerbread bow and there seems to be a lot of problems. Really glad I returned my EVO for the Nexus now. Loving this phone more and more everyday.

I also went over to the EVO page and saw lots of complaints about the upgrade. I even heard warnings from some to NOT download it yet. Too many problems. Mostly battery draining problems.

Battery draining issues can come from many things, usually with any device when upgrading to a new OS. It's always going to have battery inconsistencies, and draining quicker. This is due to the system maybe not being compatible with older apps, and also the system relearning the new way battery and memory is managed. Always the best advice is to upgrade and wipe the phone, start fresh and usually the issues go away, but many users won't do it. I did this on our EVO and noticed much better battery life from Froyo.

I just upgraded my Evo to Gingerbread on Friday and I have not really experienced any significant issues to date. More bloatware for sure, but not many real issues yet.

It didn't add anything new to the application or bloat department.

For me there was additional bloat here since I purposely skipped on the last update where they included swipe, blockbuster and other stuff to the rom image. I should have mentioned that.

Nonetheless, I still don't see any major issues creeping on my Evo from this last update.

my wife has an EVO and I upgraded hers on Friday to Gingerbread and we haven't seen any issues all weekend with it.

other than Shootme not working (no big deal she didn't use it but once in a blue moon) she hasn't had any of the "report issues" being talked about on the EVO forums here.

we'll keep an eye it though
