Do You Turn Off Your Phone Regularly?

I do turn it off at night. I don't need it when sleeping. Lol.. it can wait whatever it is. There is life besides technology

I rarely turn it off. I don't restart it all that often either unless it starts acting up. I do put it in 'silent' or 'airplane' mode on a daily basis.

I remember years ago (circa 2002) that this topic came up in another phone forum and the answers were quite different back then as cell phones were not quite as ubiquitous as they are nowadays. However, when I dropped my landline service back in '03, I've pretty much kept my cell phone on all the time since it is the only means for people (e.g. wife, work, family) to contact me. Modern electronics have come a long ways over the years, and I don't believe that keeping your phone on all the time shortens its life span in any way - its more or less just a matter of preference.

I never turn off my phone unless I absolutely have to, and only reboot when my phone's feeling slow or if an app is misbehaving.

Well, turning your phone off doesn't, in an of itself, affect how long a battery lasts... but there are a couple of bad practices.... and neither is all that likely to be honest. If you store a LiPO battery for an extended amount of time, they don't like to be either fully charged or fully discharged. They really should be about 50-70%. That's why whenever you buy something with a battery, they come half-charged. It isn't them being cheap and saving the extra pennies to fully charge, it is just good practice.

But that's only going to come into play if you plan on having your phone sit there for a month or two... which I suspect isn't the case with anyone here anyhow.

yes I do as well as restarting it at least 2 times a day. There are more often than not times when I just want time for me and my gf without any possible distractions. Another thing is I want my battery and phone to cool down so I always remove the battery which helps a lot in terms of temperature.

I don't turn my phone off unless I have to, and I am not sure whether rebooting it from time to time helps the phone function better

Because i'm working i have to regularly do it. Phones are not allowed to use while office hours. I've also read an article before that advice's every consumer to make a habit of turning off any device and that's include phones. I forgot the main reason but one thing that keeps in my mind is environment, it says that it helps regulate natural environment.

You know, in hindsight... I'd probably guess that if you summed up all the time that I've had the phone off since I bought it in November... I am guessing it wouldn't be much more than an hour, maybe 2.
