Docking screen issues

I just got a new dock for my s4. When I first plugged it in, all that showed against a black background was a large clock and the current temperature outside. Somehow, the next time I noticed it the screen had changed to a blue background with a clock, calendar and apps at the bottom. I cannot figure out how to get it back to just being the clock and temperature with the black background.
