Does Android Pay work if I'm in a store with no cell or wifi signal?

I was inside a Walmart today and there was no Verizon signal at all.
(barely any even if standing outside in the parking lot)

Walmart has no wifi inside the store, at least not for customers.

In such a situation, will Android Pay still work?

Yes, unless you've used up all of the stored backup tokens.

Yup. I just used it today at Walgreen's with my WiFi 2013 Nexus 7. Worked like a charm.

When Google Wallet was used for mobile payments, it would work without connection as long the device was connected to the internet once every 24 hours. I guess Android Pay has a similar policy.
