I had the 32Gig wifi and then bought the LTE. I didn't have any issues with either one. I had no idea what people meant by the touchscreen issues. Maybe they use it differently than I do?
So I recently tried to research exactly what people meant by touchscreen issues. I saw that you have to download a "multitouch test" app. I followed the instructions and found that my LTE also has these issues. However, although they do register as issues on this test app, I have never run into any problems in operating my Nexus. To me, my touchscreen works perfectly when browsing the web, checking e-mails, watching YouTube videos and looking at pictures, loading my broker's apps for checking stocks, etc. Maybe these will be noticeable if I played lots of intensive games?
And typing has never been a problem for my either. I have occasionally seen a double tap, but I used to get that with every other Android deice I've ever owned (Motorola Xoom, HTC EVO, etc.).
So I guess it really depends on how you use the device. I'm thinking that if you had the problems before, you use it in ways that it will replicate on the LTE version as well. But that's just my guess.
