Does anyone know of a free DRM removal SW?

Have been trying to do what seems like should be a very straight forward task...... transfer my wife's iTunes songs to Google Music.
The hate I have built up towards iTunes cannot be expressed over the internet. This is the biggest POS when it comes to music management. Every single task requires Googling it.
Anyway, I finally got the songs downloaded locally but Google Music doesn't like half of them because they have DRM protection. I found a few tools but they either add a sound label in the beginning of every song or don't even work.

Please advice and set me family be free of Apple ecosystem!

My understanding is that iTunes will allow you to re-download previously DRM-protected music in a non-DRM form, after they abandoned DRM a few years ago. It might not be that simple, but here's an article discussing it. You can Google "iTunes redownload DRM" for more information.

This takes a little bit of time but I've done it for many, many years for DRM music.

I burn the DRM music onto a cd, then rip the CD into Windows Media player.

Now the DRM is gone.

Now sync the music to your phone or upload it to Google music. DRM free.

I will do the CD trick.
I did a clean install of iTunes just to transfer files to Google Play and it still downloaded files with DMR.
This is my wife's old iPod nano and she hasn't used iTunes in many years (non of our new computers even had iTunes until today).

I cannot believe Apple users deal with this

I agree. I don't like anything Apple. Have never used iTunes. I have always ripped my DRM music as soon as I downloaded it, I used to use RW cd's for that reason. Once mp3's were readily available, I didn't have to do it any longer. Good luck!
