Does anyone know the ETA for "JB" ?

While I agree with all of your points, I have 0% confidence that this system will ever change. I think the future of Android is in the Nexus. Google knows this, and they're pushing their phones for about $50 more than you could get a new phone on Verizon WITH a 2 year contract. Their attitude is more of "we're moving on, screw you guys (Moto, HTC, Sammy, etc.) The problem is that we're at the mercy of those OEMs.
That said, there's 0 chance we're getting Jelly Bean. Isn't "end of life" status for a phone about 8-12 months after release? We're tied to the Razr, and that baby is in death range.

Agreed. I don't think it will change either. And you know what, the Razr Maxx is freaking awesome. So if we don't get JB I wont be too extremely heartbroken. However I do intend to support Google in their Nexus plans. I will probably make the jump to a Nexus device when my contract is up with the Maxx.

The reason for that, is because I want fewer roadblocks between me and an OTA when it is available. Also, as you mentioned, that is the direction Google is headed because Moto, HTC, Samsung have all been shooting themselves in the foot with their non-nexus devices.

Doesn't Google own Motorola Mobility now? Would that not put them on par with Nexus?

Not necessarily. Google has stated publicly that they don't want to give Motorola preferential treatment. Though it would be interesting to hear Motorola announce a Nexus device. But I think Google only bought Motorola for the patents, not as a vehicle to make nexus devices.

I sort of admire apple iOS at this point. They release a new upgrade and most users get it a month or so later. I know android and iOS are worlds apart, but can't hate on this fact.
This is true about Apple with updates but when the older iphones like the 4 and 3g get updates they are lacking features like siri only went to the 4s and is coming to the 3rd ipad if it doesn't have it yet. My point is that apple does keep their devices updated for at least 2 years but the older devices won't see the major benefits that these updates include. Can u imaging the outrage there would be if devices got JB and only the newest androids got Google now?

Primarily because you have other layers of approval/development to go through--for the MAXX, one layer would be Motorola/BLUR while the second layer is the carrier (Verizon) here. Considering it took the GN ~6 months to get an "incremental" ICS update I would presume that neither of those devices is looking at JB any time soon, with the GN getting it sooner than the MAXX because you have no manufacturer layer to go through first.

Updates to the manufacturers will happen quicker in the future. Previously, it was known that Google would not release the next version to the manufacturers until it was officially released, which is the reason why it takes so long for the manufacturers to get it to their technology.

Last week, Google stated that they will start releasing the next release to the manufacturers 3-4 months before it is "officially released" to the Nexus devices so that the manufacturers have time to make the necessary changes and get it out to their devices quicker. That means that we will not have to wait 6 months to get it on the device, but rather 1-2 months (hopefully), or quicker.

It took Motorola about 8 months to get ICS to us, how long would it take them to scrap that and bring out Jelly Bean? Nevermind, don't answer that. My heart can't take it anymore :'(

I doubt we will get GB.

We had it, brother. We had it.
