does anyone know to turn off 4g on the lg spectrum?

This will switch to CDMA only Menu -> Settings -> Wireless & Network -> Mobile networks => Sustem select then CDMA only

if you use the 'power control' widget you can turn off the 3g/4g signal completely. Also help to signicanty save battery when your not using any data transfer.
