Does anyone know if we could select multiple sms recipients by touching a check mark next to their name instead of choosing one by one? I cant find this information anywhere. I know the evo allows you to do this. If the epic cant just like the Samsung Moment then this will be a huge disappointment.

Handcent allows me to do this. I had no intentions of using the stock SMS app as the one in the hero used to have a memory leak, and then I fell in love with Handcent. Its great, really.

Interesting. I looked at Handcent before, but didn't really use it because I was disappointed the EVO couldn't switch notification light colors. This time though, I should look into it for it's main purpose instead of if a setting works or not.

This brings up a question I've had for a while. If you use handcent, can it be defaulted to open if you press the built-in "messaging" app? As in, you can't rearrange the 4 docked apps on the epic, and one of them is messaging. If I use handcent, will that messaging button take me to handcent, or will it always take me to the stock messaging app?

Excellent point, I was thinking the same thing. Coming from WebOs we were able to customize the launch tray apps, if these are pre-set my the carrier/samsung and can't be customized how will we be able to replace those with more preferred choices such as messaging app?.

This is one feature of the Epic that annoys! Androids are supposed to be customizable.

I'm pretty sure you can. If it's semi-open source, then you should be able to replace the default messaging app with Handcent. I remember there was something on my EVO that asked me if I wanted to replace the native app with the other app as default.

I think they meant on the tray. Which as we know now isn't customizable on the Epic variant (maybe in a future update).

Wow, this is a very good point. I really hope the epic 4g can either send multiple txts easily or handcent can replace the stock messaging app seamlessly. I have a g1 right now and am using handcent just for that easy multiple txting check mark feature. It's just like my old phone and is a feature I honestly need.

I'll try out Handcent on the Epic. I hope I'll like it.

I'm going to try the stock app for a bit, at least until I get a ROM where I can customize everything on Touchwiz. If you use an aftermarket launcher, this is a moot point then. I like handcents ability to change notification colors, however, haven't been able to do so cause I have a hero, which just does green and orange (not even red). I also like that I can customize the background of the text boxes per person, change the font, change the style of the boxes... really nice app. The pop-up sms with voice to text option built in is also a winner.

My stupid PMs aren't going through for some reason. So I'll say it here:

Thanks for the info! Mine will probably be rooted by the end of the first week.
