Does anyone use their Verizon Galaxy Tab as a mobile hotspot

I am curious about whether the performance is comparable to something like a USB broadband modem or a novatel mifi. I am considering discontinuing my novatel mifi broadband mobile plan and replacing it with the VZ galaxy tab. I probably only use my 3g mifi about once a week while on the go for connecting to my Thinkpad X61 Tablet PC. I like the idea of having the Samsung Galaxy tablet with a dedicated 3G connection when I don't need to bring my work computer with me, and also repurpose it as a mobile broadband router when I need to do more serious work on my laptop.

Do any of you use the mobile hotspot capability often? And can you tell if the connection speeds are similar to a dedicated mobile broadband router like novatel mifi?
