Does anyone's Incredible still reboot randomly?

I have a 16gb card, from my mothers droid X. I do not have the android 2.2 update for the dinc but my phone randomly reboots.

I have been having this issue off and on as well. I think I read in another thread that it may have to do with ATK enabled on the phone. However I do not have the link to that thread.

Seems to happen when I am charging at work, streaming iHeart radio and listening through Bluetooth headphones.....

i dont have an incredible, but have an evo and i am having the same problem. just rebooted on me as i was reading the forums on my phone. am replying from a computer for this.

just rebooted and as it finished mounting the sd card on the phone it went it a reboot loop for about 5 times in a row. always after it mounted the sd card.

The signal strength theory is interesting. Mine rebooted 2 or 3 times while I was on vacation, where I had a very poor signal. Now that I'm back it's been fine.

My Inc was SUPER and then last two weeks started rebooting. It usually doesn't respond to touch and then I know it's about to restart. It hasn't driven me crazy yet. I think it might be Multicon but I kind of like it. I'm waiting for Froyo. If it fixes it great, if not I will do away with Multicon.

My Incredible reboots all the time for no reason. After the first initial reboot usually does it 3x times in row.

I couldn't stand it any more and took it to my local VZW store and told the rep about my random reboots said she couldn't send it back to techs or get me a new one unless it rebooted in front of her. I was like it is random which mean I don't know when it is going to happen and I can't reproduce it on command or it wouldnt be "random". She stated well the next time it reboots try to hurry to the nearest VZW store and show a rep. At that point I just walked out.

Hopefully 2.2 fixes it.

After it reboots my calls are locked out and I must pull the batter or shut it down and then restart it again or I can't get any calls. Also my security apps quit

Froyo reboots

Hey guys, I got the 2.2 update on Saturday morning and was really hoping that my reboot issues would be resolved. Previously my phone has started rebooting over the last couple weeks, sometimes during calls, other times just sitting on my desk. Each time it would take about 30 seconds or so to reboot and sometimes a little longer before it was actually ready to be used. Also, sometimes it would reboot back to back multiple times. Now that I have the 2.2 update sometimes when I back out of an app back to the homescreen it flashes the HTC splash screen and reloads the homepage, just like a reboot except that it only takes 5-10 seconds to be fully operational. I don't know if it is doing a soft-boot that is just really fast or if it is just reloading the sense UI. In either case, I am running 2.2 and still having this issue. It has happened 3 times today.

Have you guys tried a different battery? Tony bag o doughnuts had similar problems w/ 4 devices and it turned out to be the battery.

Just a thought. The phone should not be rebooting on it's own like that.

I thought I would weigh in on this again. The EVO and DI are both known to have a random reboot issue. So far it has not been a big deal unless reboot happens while on an important call, which I have not heard of.

Known possible causes;
tower switching, especially while driving and say using internet radio.
size and class of micro sd card, especially when the phone is getting use to a new or bigger one.
possible battery issue, I haven't tried swapping this yet.
may happen when over heating, maybe because its on the charger
some have mentioned various apps as a possibility

In light of this list, (please feel free to add to it), it dose seem to be well random.
There seems to be a lot of people who have had their phones for awhile and then find it rebooting after it gets broke in, as I did. It is the random reboots while sitting there, not being used in sleep mode that concern me. I wonder if anyone who has plane Vanilla on their DI or EVO could weigh in on this. I will continue to look for a solution or at least an answer as to why this is happening, and post again if I come across anything worth while. Until then, the DI and EVO are still top notch androids, this in no way is a big enough issue to warrant thinking other wise. Happy Androiding:D

In the past it has happened occasionally to me while using GPS nav. The battery temp was normal then.
But:
may happen when over heating, maybe because its on the charger
This got me thinking about a couple of incidents recently where my DInc rebooted itself and then went into a rebooting cycle. Both times the phone was on and being charged, and happened when I unplugged it. (I usually charge with the phone shut down.) I did battery pulls to stop it, and the battery was definitely hot. Lately I wonder if it has something to do with the stock charger - I've used lower mA BB chargers and a travel charger with no problems.

I am on DINC # 3 ... first one would reboot randomly and even super-heat and enter a reboot cycle. DINC # 2 rebooted only once, but I had received it with a bad speaker so it ultimately went back. DINC # 3 has never rebooted.

Reboots = Return

I never saw my phone reboot itself until today.

I updated to 2.2 a few days ago with the update.zip file from this forum.

I wasn't looking at the phone; it caught my attention only when the white HTC screen came up. So, I have no idea what the phone was doing at the time the reboot started. I had just the usual programs running - Gmail & whatever else runs continuously on these Incs.

I'm not overly-concerned about it. I just think it's odd for the phone to do that all on its own.

This is all to familiar to me, and since I posted my concerns over this issue I have had to get a new DI, probably unrelated though.

I assume you are rooted if not read up on it. I rooted my new DI the day of delivery and within 24hr's or so installed SetCPU, so far so good. The reason I am suggesting this is; the DI's CPU runs at full speed even when the screen is off, in this case I would reboot occasionally too. With SetCPU you can set a profile to scale back run speeds while not in use, at least saving some precious battery. Its to early for me to tell if this will take care of the random reboots and since I have an entirely new DI I may never know, but if you or anyone else has luck with this idea all the better for everyone.

I hope this is a help to someone, please post if it is, and good luck I hope to not encounter random reboots anymore, the same to all.:)

Actually, no...I am not rooted. Thanks for the tip, though.

I wasn't aware that the OS kept running at full speed. Interesting, and unfortunate at the same time. hehe

Well, now my phone is rebooting like mad. Over the past week I had a few post-update reboots, which were annoying but still pretty consistent with the intermittent rebooting I had before.

It got worse yesterday, and today, the phone is just going nuts - in rebooting loops randomly all day. Basically no rhyme or reason that I can tell - it can be on the charger or not, have a full battery or low battery, I can be using an app, or the browser, or the phone, or doing nothing. No new apps installed recently, and I've always had a good signal in my house.

I even did a factory reset and wiped everything, even though I couldn't see how that would have any effect. It rebooted several times after that (and I had NO apps installed at that point other than the preinstalled stuff).

I got my DInc in June and was really happy with it up to this point. Heading to the Verizon store tomorrow to request a replacement. :( Hope that (1) they don't give me a hard time (2) I don't have to wait too long for a new one and (3) my new one works!

Mine rebooted randomly today while in my backpack running MYtracks app, also rebooted before Froyo update. Also Frequently discconects from Blue Tooth for no apparant reason, than sometimes reconnects a few minutes later.

The blue tooth thing is more frequent and more annoying

They won't give you a hard time. It would be interesting to see if VZW gives you a refurbished unit rather than a new one. I'll cross my fingers for a new one. :)
