Does anything work better than Task Killer?

Task killers are bad for android. You can search the forums or google them and read up on why they do more harm than good. BTW I used one at first then read up on them and deleted it.

OK. I thought it would extend battery life. I just found a link to an article explaining why I shouldn't use it. DELETED!
Thanks everyone. This place is awesome.

As others have said, it does more harm than good. Apps like Juice Defender can help depending on your situation.

for all of you folks saying android dont need one ect ect. why does the droid x2 that comes with GB have task killer built in ??

Task managers/killers should not be used in the way that they are used by users (just killing off anything in the background). They can help if used properly meaning only using it for resolving issues like a frozen app or something. With that being said, I do not use one.

Because a task manager CAN be used for good. The problem in the Android ecosphere is that none of the third party ones are designed and marketed in the way that they should be used if they're going to be used at all. And because of that, they do more harm then good. Motorola's built-in task manager is not the same functionality as a program like ATK.

I have one, but I only use it if I load up a game and it starts to lag. It is rare, but when it happens clear out a few select apps and it is golden.

Its still not good to have it on your phone if a game starts to lag and stops Android will force close it for you. All your doing by having a task killer on your phone is harming your phone

Ive not had a lot of issues with force closing other than my stock internet browser on big text files and a lot of video streaming. 9 times out of 10 killing said browser stops the lag. Sometimes the internet + Facebook app, but nothing else. I don't blindly close all apps. But it does work fine, close the browser, go back to game and no more lag.

i have read the arguments for and against task killers/ managers . and i have no idea if the one in the dx2 is a manager or a killer but from what i can see it functions just like most others . and that begs the question if moto put it in there blur over lay why ?? im not saying you do or dont need one for the record im just pointing out what i see. i have tried them on different phones with mixed results .

i will say on my thunderbolt before this last update i was having the reboot issue . i installed a app called memory booster and that cured the reboot problem but i did start getting a fair amount of redraws. but IT did stop the reboots. after the update i uninstalled the app just to see if my reboot issue was fixed and it was so i have left it uninstalled .

I read both of these articles and after reading them I decided to stop using Advanced Task Killer I have installed on my Thunderbolt. I still have the app installed in case I run into any sort of issue with an app or two, but I did disable the auto-kill feature.

Even if you do run into issues android will.force close them for you so u don't need it at all
