Does anything work better than Task Killer?

Don't use any task killer. Google has already stated that it does more harm than good.

the task manager that comes with gingerbread is a task manager not an automated task killer, its useful when i have an app that's gone wonky and i need to reload it but i don't use it on a normal basis android usually catches all my frozen apps no problem

I have an app called: Appcontrol :by curvefish : as a last resort... I hardly ever use it, but works for me if I ever needed it.
