Does Apple's face scanner seem better than Samsung's iris scanner?

I am not one to normally give credit to Apple as I am an Android and Samsung fan. But to me, it seems Apple's face scanner is one up on Samsung's iris scanner.

Apparently there will be no Touch ID as the face scanner will completely replace it. Reading about it, there will be infra red sensors so that a face is detected in 3D and cannot be fooled by a photograph - unlike the one from Sammy. Apparently there will be more points of reference on this face scanner than apples existing Touch ID and can be used even if lying flat on a table. And it supposedly unlocks faster than their current Touch ID.

It must be pretty good if it can completely replace Touch ID. There is no way Sammy could use the iris scanner to replace the FPS.

It does sound to me it will be significantly better than Sammy's iris scanner. What do you think? If you think so also, do you think that Sammy might seriously upgrade their fairly low grade facial scanner in the Note 9 to match Apple?

No idea about apple but my S8 is crap at face reading, can't even register my irises and it's hit and miss fingerprint. I'm not impressed at all with that... All my other galaxy devices were flawless with fingerprint!

I already have several Microsoft devices that read faces like this. I look forward to reading about how someone tricked the camera and unlocked the phone.

And this is why I'm hanging on to my S5 and getting either the S9 or Note 9.

Because the Note 8 is done and dusted, a done deal. I should have said though do you think Sammy might redo its face scanner to match Apple for EITHER the S9 or Note 9?

Right...Note 8 is done. But we have yet to here of any improvement over the S series, and there always is.

The face scanner is all rumor right now. It may or may not happen like the front screen fingerprint unlock. Apple is having problems with the in - screen fingerprint scanner, who knows what will come with a 3D face scanner. If at all.

Wouldn't this be titled "Does apples face scanner seem better than Samsungs FACE scanner"? I mean, you're comparing two different biometric lock features. But oh. Well.

But when I had my N7, my facial and iris scanner were on point. I personally had no issues...

None of this really matters to me though, because I don't lock my phone. I don't see the need.

Last I heard Apple dropped the in-screen fingerprint sensor for the iPhone 8 and they're putting it in the power button like Sony does.

as a person who wears glasses constantly.. the iris scanner is a PITA to use.. but face scanning should be better in general.

Not really. Samsung's face scanner is far less sophisticated than Apple's, even Sammy admits it's more for convenience. I am comparing 2 sophisticated non fingerprint scanners.

Apple's RUMOURED face scanner. Or did I miss where it's now on their 7?

How do you know about the level of sophistication and technical prowess of a piece of technology that doesn't exist yet to compare it to a piece of tech that we already have?

I dunno....
