Does Dev Mode Make Apps Incompatible?

[Android Central Question]

Recently got a new Chromebook, installed some apps onto it from the play store, and then realized I forgot to turn on developer mode. After doing so, some of the apps I was using before were listed as not being compatible with my device. Is this because I'm in developer mode, or is there another issue here?

Some apps, like banking apps, may not like Developer mode. (It's not a well-thought-out decision as far as I'm concerned, but I don't work for any banks [any more].)
