Or do I have a defective device? It's been like this since launch day, I just figured there were some bugs in the software they had to iron out, but it's not getting better only worse. I figured this would be a big news story if it was a widespread problem, but I haven't heard anything. I can't even use my phone as an alarm anymore because it will also randomly turn itself off in the night. I've been late to work twice now because of that.

if it is a software issue then a factory reset should solve it. if it is a hardware issue then you need to have it replaced.

Never with me. Never a single freeze . There is occasional stutter though

Trying booting into safe mode and see if it does the same thing. If not, you have a Rouge app.

I've never had mine freeze up, but I have had to reboot my phone a few times when it mysteriously slows down and lags between switching apps. This rarely occurs for me, seemly only when I'm running several memory-heavy apps back to back.

Mine does freeze but it only happens once every 2 weeks and even then its because I have so many things open (maps, Spotify, Facebook) other than that this thing is smooth as butter

I've already factory reset it once by accident after a freeze. It still does the same thing. I honestly think I just have a defective device. I don't have very many apps on my phone either so I find it hard to believe that is the issue.

My s6 restarted twice since I bought it in may. The first time was when I downloaded manual camera and the app said your phone may restart. The second time was right after I upgraded to 5.1. It hasn't restarted since but it did freeze up for about a minute the other day.

I have had every galaxy since the gs6 and all of them eventually have issues, lag and restarts at some point (my gs6 was the worst of them). I don't know if that is limited to samsung devices or if it's all android handsets. It seems to get better with every year so maybe by the s6 we will have a phone with minimal issues.

Yeah, the behavior you describe just isn't normal for the S6 or any other quality device. Definitely make arrangements to get your phone serviced or replaced so you can enjoy it as intended.

Sounds like you have a defective device. I've never experienced this with my s6. May want to see if a certain app is causing it to freeze but if you're restarting it that often it sounds like you have a defective device.

Did you solve this problem? Mine has been doing the exact same thing for the past few days. I've only had it a month.

Just send it back to Samsung, or the vendor you bought it from for repair. Shouldn't there be some warranty left on it? At least you'll get it back after a tech has either ruled out hardware or software.

Exact same problem. Mine wasn't brand new either, thinking it has to be a defective device. Just randomly every 2 hours or so, think it has got worse since the update.. Doesn't take long to start back up again, i just use the volume down and power button for 10 secs, still a hassle though.

You should probably get it checked out if you still have the manufacturer's warranty. My S6 does stutter a little bit sometimes when I've got a boatload of apps running, but it has never frozen on my before.

I've had my S6 for almost 1 year now and have never experienced multiple reboots or freezing as you've described.

My Samsung S6 has been back to Samsung 3 times now with this issue. The engineer says that it is the fault of 3rd party apps not the device. The 3rd party app that caused it to start freezing the 2nd time (the only app I put on) was facebook, the phone was back in the shop and on its way to repair within an hour of being picked up. I have now been informed today that the phone is fine it is the apps that are the problem. This is totally unacceptable, I have been miss sold a phone that I wanted on 4G for social media and other uses and it wont work with them. I think trading standards might have to be my next port of call.

I'll run into a lag when my phone is fighting for service (typically comes whenever my phone is overheating), but never full on freezes. Had the phone for ~10 months now and haven't experienced what you're describing yet. I had a similar issue with my old galaxy S4 though.

same thing happens to me on the s6 edge+. ive also been late a couple of times because my phone just turns off in the middle of the night. anybody know what to do?
