Does rooting slow down the G2?

I've been told that rooting the G2 and installing another OS (i.e. Cyanogenmod) will slow down the data connection to sub-4G speeds, and make calling less reliable - is there any truth to this? I'd like to root my phone and install another OS, but would first like to verify that doing so will not compromise its performance. Thanks.

Never noticed that on my g2.... That being said, Android 4.0/4.1/4.2 are all more resource intensive than the stock gingerbread ROM. So, you might see some lags. If you stick to ICS, there are Cyanogen forks that will let you keep Wi-Fi calling.
