does tempered glass hinder the functioning of physical buttons on the S6 active

Just picked up a S6 Active and want to know if the Body Guardz screen protector that I ordered will make using the physical buttons difficult due to the thickness of the glass?

Doubt it... i have glass on mine and it's fine... a different company though

Re: does tempered glass hinder the functioning of physical buttons on the S6 active

I doubt it also. I have the Body Guardz on my S5 Active and it doesn't interfere.

It depends. There are two types of glass screen protectors. One goes and covers the entire front. It actually has a cut out for the buttons. I found this to interfere a bit because it rises up on both sides of the buttons. the other type, only goes as far down the front as the sides of the buttons. So the bottom of the front of the phone is still exposed. You lose a little protection, but it gives clear access to the buttons.

I have bodyguardz glass on my s6a. Button is a little deeper than it would be otherwise, but since I've always had the cover, that's just the "normal" feel of the buttons. It'll feel weird if I take it off, I bet. AoN

Re: does tempered glass hinder the functioning of physical buttons on the S6 active

Just got my bodyguardz on just this second. The buttons instead of being raised without the glass are now recessed with the glass on . The tempered glass also sits a hair above the edge of the phone. Maybe this is why the zagg brand doesn't cover the full bottom of the phone and only goes to the top of the buttons. They may have liked the access of the raised buttons. Someone else on here said the zagg may be a hair thinner. I got my from amazon at $21 instead of the $35 the att store charges.

I have one of the tempered glass protectors from Ebay, buttons feel different but totally usable. The protector goes completely around the buttons. Not bad for $7, could be a little rounder on the edges, but everything else is fine.

Supershieldz for $6.99 off Amazon fits great and no interference at all.

Just got the Body Guardz tempered glass screen protector and I gotta say, I think it interferes with the buttons too much. I'll give it more time but not happy with it at this point.

Does it fit around the buttons? If you could grab a pic at kind of an angle to show the thickness, that would be awesome!

I'm not liking the bodyguardz as well. I ordered the zagg from ATT online and if I don't like that I'm going without tempered glass.

The buttons are slightly below the glass as well as the sides are ever so slightly below the rim. The glass doesn't cover completely around the buttons but around the sides of them with the bottom exposed so you have excellent contact with them.

I took off my bodyguardz today. I couldn't stand the recessed feeling of the buttons on all sides. I have the zagg coming today as well. Hopefully I'll like that.

Re: does tempered glass hinder the functioning of physical buttons on the S6 active

Got my zagg on.
1. Bodyguardz - Goes edge to edge, covers entire screen, feels a little thicker than the zagg, but I don't like the feeling of the recessed buttons.
2. Zagg - Leaves small gaps on sides, ugly cutout on the top of the screen, feels a hair thinner than the bodyguardz, but I like the feel of being able to tell the buttons apart coming up from the bottom edge where there is no glass protector on.

SO for fit the bodyguardz wins, but clearly the winner is zagg for function.

How much difference between .3mm and .4mm thick glass? :D :p Bodyquardz and Zagg both claim to be .4mm thick. Seen some other tempered glass screen protectors on amazon that are .3mm thick. Don't think i would be a very noticeable difference.

Re: does tempered glass hinder the functioning of physical buttons on the S6 active

0.0039" - that's almost 4 thousandths of an inch. About the thickness of a very thin piece of paper.

There is also a company called Phantom Glass that is supposed to be basically another layer of gorilla glass and is thinner. Their website states it is made out of gorilla glass. They make it for the S5 Active and it is only .2mm thick. I did email them to see if they are going to make one for the S6 Active as well. I'll report back once I get a response.

It does not hinder the functioning of the physical buttons on the S6 active.
