Does The Droid Razr Have A Bad Signal Antenna?

This is the same experience I'm having in rural Farmington, New Hampshire. Tether connection was fine with GB, not nearly so good with ICS. Has anyone been in touch yet with either Motorola or Google?

Well my phone continued to constantly switch between 4g, 3g &1x after i took it into Verizon and they pointed out that the phone was putting itself into global mode. I did a factory data reset and that didn't help either. I went back in and they have me a new SIM card.still same problem. Finally the guy said it must have a bad antenna. Warranty replacement is coming today. 2nd warranty replacement in last month. Last RAZR stopped reading my Sim card all of a sudden. If this one has problems I am going to call Verizon and tell them to send a RAZR maxx instead for my troubles. Still kinda bitter that i paid $300 for the RAZR the day it came out and then they announced the maxx a month later.

Ha!!! Just got home from work and activated my "certified like new" RAZR. Set it up and made sure right away to switch it out of global mode. Right away it started switching back and forth between 3g and 4g. Right now i am getting .05 Mbps down and .08 Mbps up 3g speeds. I used to always get a strong 4g signal here. Like 6-9Mbps down and up. About to call Verizon right now and at them. I better get a Maxx out of this. Fed up with this!

Sounds like your area. It's very unlikely that two separate phones have the same issue. A maxx won't change anything as it uses the same hardware. Ask verizon if there is any work being done in your area lately or anything

Sounds to me like you are just wanting to get a maxx for free.

Just talked to Verizon. They said there shouldn't be problems with coverage in my area as long as i am not in extended 4g coverage area, which i am not. You would think two phones would not have the same issue, but when I was in the Verizon store yesterday my phone was constantly switching out of 4g while their phones had a strong 4g signal, so I don't think it was a coverage issue. They gave me a new sim and then ordered me a new phone b/c of it so I don't think they would just give me a nee phone if it was just coverage issues. Verizon rep just told me that there was an update coming out inn September to address issues including 4g data drop. I have heard about this update, but have not heard of a lot of people having data issues this bad, mainly other problems with ICS on RAZR. I will wait, but am skeptical if it will fix my problems. I Am not just trying to get a free maxx, i am just sick of not having reliable data, constant battery drain from switching between 4g, 3g and 1x all the time for the past month and a half and frustrated that I have to go through 3 phones and dealing with verizon. Both times i went to the store the reps troubleshooted my phone and then ordered me a replacement because nothing else worked. I dont think it is too much to ask for a maxx if the update does not fix my issue and they have to send me the third warranty replacement in one month.

Also it was the store rep who suggested that i call verizon if i was still having issues with my phone so i could get some type of compensation for all of my trouble since my last phone stopped reading my sim card and the last one he thought had a bad antenna. I just thought switching it with a maxx next time would be fair compensation and would be fine as long as it didn't have a bad antenna. I seriously question the quality of Verizon's certified like new devices after reading about how many people have had problems with them on different forums.

Strange. Hopefully your new new replacement works better. I personally have never had any data drops or any problems with it constantly switching back and forth. If you do still keep having problems I would ask for a maxx maybe. I know they have me a maxx for my GNEX because of all the signal issues and I only had to call once they didn't even make me get another nexus first. It depends who you talk to, if one guy says no just tell him that it won't work but thanks anyway and hang up, and call again.

ive found calling is always better than taking it into the store. you will get much better/knowledgeable help from the phone techs then you ever will in the store. best of luck to you.

My wife has a RAZR and after the ICS update it tries to roam to the Canadian towers all day everyday, quite a headache. We did all kinds of stuff to try and update the PRL, full factory data reset, soft reset, pulling the sim card. After dealing with Verizon for hours, makes me wonder if the antenna is actually better on the RAZR then the Droid4. Thought about trying to edit the Rogers tower out of the PRL, but we just pay too darn much to have to dink with it, so I have them sending out a Droid4 for her. I have a Droid4 and have been refusing the ICS update daily because I don't like what it did to skyfire or java. My folks have droid4's they took the ICS update and have no roaming problems, so now I am a little more inclined to do the upgrade to ICS. The Tech tried to say that he has never heard of this problem happening to anyone, sounded like a song and dance too me.. but in the end he oped to send a new "refurbished" phone to us. Funny I had to buy the battery cover, after reading more forums I wonder if it has anything to do with the sim card, or the fact we have a old boost wireless number transferred to it.
