I know obviously they say it has 1gb of memory... But i installed a few OS monitoring apps which all say the phone has ~700 mb of memory.. why is this? Is the memory being shared by something? it says "Total memory = 700mb" then it says "available memory : ~250 mb or so"

True. Plus it wont ever be exactly what is advertised. When the 1GB is formatted, it usually comes out so many MB lower then what is advertised.

True. This is the case for any Android device. Some of the ram is set aside for the o/s & the graphics chip. What is reported by the monitoring app is what is left for the o/s to allocate to different tasks.

Im wondering the same thing, my guess is that its sharing memory with the gpu, but idk for sure.

It has nothing to do with formatting. When dealing with storage, manufacturers like to advertise the number of bytes in base 10 but the computer uses base 2. So hdd companies like to say 1gb is 10^9 bytes but to a computer 1gb is 2^30 bytes. I dont think they advertise ram this way since 1gb of ram is 1024mb.

Anyone? DDR2.....get the frack (Colorado is dealing with fracking) did you get a RAM error? Seriously, get an error then show......
