Does the Nexus 6's SIM card work with the Nexus 6P? (Sprint)

Your absolutely right, I called every Sprint store in Portland Oregon. Nobody carries that sim. The sprint store in my little town, had at least 100 other nano sim cards though. I ordered the correct sim card about 4-5 hours ago. They said 3-5 business days. No expedite delivery options.

So sorry to hear about your experience. Dealing with Sprint is so frustrating and the influx of misinformation about the Nexus line (even when Sprint used to sell Nexus phones) is disparaging.

I called Sprint customer service and had to speak with three people before I was finally able to order the right SIM. The support representative did not know the SKU for the phone and constantly kept confusing the 6P with the N6 despite my attempts to explain to him that they were two different phones. If not for looking online for a half hour, I likely would have gotten the wrong SIM.

But the SKU in my original post is the right SIM card for the 6P, and I went in to the store to activate my 6P with that SIM card once I got it. However, I ordered the SIM in advance of my shipment because I anticipated problems. I understand your frustration though, cause I was really excited to use this phone and the prospect of waiting to activate it sounds awful. Hope everything went OK, though.

I know there are lots of people dealing with the same thing. So I didn't feel as bad. Thank god there is WIFI and we can still basically use our new phones. I wish I had gotten online and researched problems before I got the new phone. Like you did.

I'm dealing with it. The sim should ship out today. I expect it Wed or Thurs at the latest. I do still have my Nexus 6 to play with and make calls.

This is my experience took about 2-3hrs. :(
I just got my project fi phone today. I decided to stay with my current Sprint plan for a few more months. I have to tell you, this is a nightmare. I of course tried to just swap my nano sim card from my current Motorola Nexus 6 to the new Nexus 6p. The phone tried to activate the sim card automatically(no dice). Sim card locked!!! Please call Sprint. I then tried the online sprint webpage where you can activate new devices. No GO!!! Device not in database. Then I Initiated a chat with Sprint. They asked for IMEI number, serial and sim card number. NO go, I then tried another brand new Sprint Nano sim card I got from a sprint store this week. That wouldn't work either. So then I drove to a Sprint Store. I had the guy at the sprint store try for 2 hours, and 3 calls to corporate. Apparantly there is a special sim card required for the Nexus 6p. And will take 3-5 business days. No expedite option available. WTF Brand new phone, cannot use it with Sprint currently. That is my experience, hope yours is better.

All I did was use Sprint Chat (instant messaging from their site) and had it ordered within 5 minutes. They said I could pay $12.99 for next day air, or wait 3-5 business days and pay nothing. I just took the free option. Once the SIM V5 card came in, it wouldn't activate, so I got onto Sprint Chat again and basically did nothing and they had me activated and set-up within 15 minutes. Easiest thing ever. I'm not sure why you had such a problem.

You obviously spoke with a Sprint person that new about the problem. The Sprint people I talked to were clueless. Had I known about these threads I would have sent them the correct information and basically schooled them myself. There are smart people and dumb people. I obviously called a spoke with the dumb one(s), and the sprint guy at the store, was also completely clueless. He tried but ended up getting transferred to 3 different people before we got the correct answer. The chat operator I had just wanted to send me a new sim from the beginning. I wanted to know why they would send me another nano sim card when I had two brand new ones sitting in from of me. I asked them repeatedly what the difference was with the nano sim they were sending me and the ones I already had. That confused the chat operator apparently they could not explain. So I personally opted to go to the Sprint store to see if they could help and get my phone working asap. The guy at the Sprint store had no understanding why it wouldn't work. They also had to add the device into the database.

In all reality they need to just tell customers one simple thing. There is a newer version nano sim card that your phone's require. No Sprint stores carry them, you need to order one or your phone won't work. That simple.

I also read where they sent people the wrong sim cards even when they clearly gave them the correct item number and version of sim card they needed.

hey guys if its on the same network as a previous owned phone it should work just fine BUT may have to be cut down to nano size, I came from a LG G3 to the Nexus 6p and had to cut mine sim card to size then popped it in and it works just fine. I purchased a nano card cutter from amazon. Also im on AT&T but if im not mistaken it may work for other providers as well

You have to order it. None of the stores have those Sim cards.
Sorry you didn't have better luck locating the CZ2144LWC nano-SIM card. However, it isn't completely accurate to generalize that "none of the stores" carry these SIM cards.

A couple of my local Sprint stores here in St. Louis had them. I was directed to the stores that have a "Service & Repair" department (Sprint agents might refer to this as an "S&R store") in addition to just sales. They had the SIM in stock, and all I had to do was stop by and they had me up & running on my 6P in about 20 minutes.

I'm sure YMMV per market, however. But if you call around your area and get someone knowledgeable, you might inquire about any local Sprint stores that have a Service & Repair section. They're much more likely to have the SIM on hand.

Quite sure you need a new sim. I have a Nexus 6 already activated on project fi... got the 6p today and switched it over. Everything works although it gives me a message that I need a new sim... I'm able to still makes calls on or off wifi.

Yes, you need a new sim, I had a really hard time getting the answer from Sprint. Finally I got the right person and they sent me a new sim. It was frustrating at the time but all good now and couldn't be happier!

It is a different issue with Sprint, they actually do require a new SIM card in most cases. What seems odd, to me, is that Sprint is still shipping the old SIM cards. This seems to be a case of Sprint just being cheap. The older SIM cards are outdated (and cheaper, which I'm guessing is why they are still trying to use them) and won't work on many of the newer phones.

Looking at the sprint website on SIM cards (https://www.sprint.com/en/landings/bring-your-own-phone.html) it appears they now have a new 3-in-1 card kit that supposedly supports everything. It also says that it will work with an upcoming "galaxy s7 special edition" not sure which one they are talking about there.

I've never used Sprint (unless you count Project Fi) but I've heard a ton of terrible things about their customer service over the years, and I honestly wonder why anyone would continue with Sprint. In my area, Verizon is the only carrier with full coverage so most people use them, but while I have friends on T-Mobile and AT&T, I actually don't know a single person on Sprint.

Can any Sprint customers tell me if they just have a bad rap and it's not terrible to live with Sprint, or if Sprint just has the best coverage/best pricing or what? While on Fi, I've monitored my network connections, and I've found that I've been almost exclusively on T-Mobile and/or wifi.

It depends on your area. I live in the Boston metro area and I get great service from them. Last month alone I used 40+gb of data with no problems, and for $60/month I can't complain.

It appears Houston has pretty good Sprint coverage; I have a Project Fi line and it often switches to Sprint (though T-Mobile also is quite good in Houston, though is suffering a bit from congestion now). Of course, being with Project Fi, I have the good fortune of not needing to deal with Sprint customer service.

Still confused between Sim cards for nexus 6 and nexus 6p.
Does the sim for 6p work for 6 and vice versa or not?
I searched with both skus mentioned in this thread CZ2124LWC (for Nexus 6) and CZ2144LWC (for Nexus 6p) on sprint.com and both searches landed me on the same 3-in-1 packaged simcard page.
I am trying to bring my Nexus 6 (Motorola) to sprint
