Does the Pixel 2XL using Google Assistant work directly with tp-link Smart Plug HS105

I know it will work when having a Google Home device. I just don't need one right now. I have the Kasa and the Home app set-up for remote and location access but the Home app can't find my HS105 device when searching for devices to connect.

I don't normally use Google Assistant, and I don't have time to try it today, but I'll get back to you tomorrow about it. (I happen to have an Echo Dot and Alexa controls the Kasa devices just fine.)
