Does the S8/S8+ Use Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 or 4.0

It actually does support QC 3.0 but 2 requirements are needed for it to work though.A legit QC 3.0 charger (obviously) and the cable needs to support the Volt/Amps that gets kicked out from the charger. If both requirements are met it'll charge up within 1 hour and 20-ish mins give or take.Mind you this is from 2-5% left in the battery.
I used an Aukey QC 3.0 charger and the cable that came with it which is quite thick (probably to make it feel a bit more premium).I compared this combination with the Samsung charger and the cable that came in the box and it was 20-25 mins faster than the stock accessories as mentioned above.

20-25 minutes is pretty significant! Do you know if it was a USB-PD Certified Charger as well as 3.0?? Some say USB-PD will beat out QC in the end and android is moving that direction. One person on this thread noticed they got the highest charging voltage with USB-PD. I think the answer right now for all of us with an s8, s8+, or note 8, is to get a QC 3.0 charger that is also USB-PD Certified, combined with a good cable, it may likely unlock the best charging for us.

One more piece of evidence... Anker has this description of one of their cables..... PowerLine USB-C to USB-C 3.1
with Power Delivery for USB Type-C Devices Including Samsung Galaxy S8 S8+, new MacBook, Nintendo Switch, Google Pixel, Nexus 6P, LG V20 and More .... Looks like the S8 S8+ and Note 8 are going to be the new USB PD standard guys. It also looks like it's a bit faster than QC 3.0.

I meant to post this first...anyway I watched a video of a google pixel being tested, and it charged at 1990mah with QC 2.0, 2270mah with QC 3.0, and 2370mah with USB PD. Right now there is an charger listed that specifically calls out the S8, S8+, and Note 8...and its USB PD.

Hmm,not sure but here are some pictures in case you're curious and want to get it.The charger is also a lot cooler and my phone as well.Kinda great to know my battery ain't heating up that much compared to the original charger which is good for the longevity of the phone/battery and the charger it's self.

If Its a Micro USB you will have to use the Type c to Micro USB connector that comes with the S8

Jeff
at 18:15, Dec 15:

The charger block itself is neither it takes the larger usb input. The same large usb connection on the end of the stock factory USB C cable that comes with the phone

This thread still around? S8 uses QC 2.0. All their new versions of chargers are also still 2.0 based. My guess is they didn't want to introduce new testings for their own accessories and 2.0 was "good enough" for fast charging.

QC 3.0 and 4.0 chargers will still fall back to 2.0 if need.

Guys, don't worry about your phone's not having Quick Charge 3.0 or 4.0. Your phone not using this technology means less wear per charge on your battery. My dad's a scientist who used to work in this department.

Also, Quick Charge 2.0 isn't that slow either way.
