Does the USB slimport provide 1080p video to the TV?

Can anyone verify the USB slim port connect to a HD TV provides or streams 1080p videos?

If I can get Blue Ray quality I will buy a Slim Line to HDMI cable. Currently I'm streaming to a NetGear PTV3000 but the tablet seems to max out at 720p.

Thanks!

slimport may not be a good choice, people who have it connected to the charger, the batter power may still decrease.

asus tech told me that it is better not to use the tablet while it is charging. you are using slimport and charging the tablet at the same time, it is convenient, but it might not be good for the tablet battery.

No need to charge while watching a video. The battery seems to last a very long time. My big concern though is if the tablet can really produce 1080p video as advertised. So far I've not seen 1080p while streaming wirelessly.

Well my tv reports a 1080p signal. Deer Hunter never looked so good (though a bit tricky to play). I don't have any HD movies on my tablet right now..

I looked again and found some 1080p videos I recorded on my phone. They are definitely coming through in 1080p - they look great.

Thanks!!! I'll go ahead and get a cable then. I guess streaming video wirelessly maxes out at 720p. If there is a way to stream 1080p maybe somebody will step in and explain.

I emailed tech support and they sent me a canned response on how to sink sound with video - nothing at all to do with the question I asked, go figure!

Thanks again!!!

Just to let everybody know with my new slimport adaptor and two six foot cables and a coupler for a total of 12 feet works pretty well with 1080p showing on the TV screen. So far I'm very happy with the performance.

Are you guys getting the right aspect ratio on your TV? Mine cuts off at the top and bottom and has black bars on the side.

seems like it only works on tv's with HDMI 1.4 or higher..... (basically 3D only tv's)

everytime I try to use mine on any tv's it always drops out....
will work for a min, 10 mins, 20 mins, 30 seconds
varys
tried all sorts of cables, thick ones, diff revisions....
5 or more diff brands of tv's
multiple slimport cables from diff makers, that work fine on nexus 4
very frustrating, cant figure it out
but its kinda useless because nobody I know owns a 3D set and the only reason i would use it is
when im out and about... not at home... i got computers for that....
anybody can shed some light let me know.... frustrated.

my iphone 4s does xbmc just fine, no messing around.....

and as far as the right aspect goes, got a resolution changing app from the play store, but you can also do it by command
requires root access, why it trys to do a 16:10 ratio when the slimport cable is inserted is beyond me.....
