Does transferring photos to a flash drive compromise their quality?

I am facing a dilemma, with no SD card slot iam using up quite a bit of storage on my device, even taking cloud services into account. I know you can buy external thumb drives you can plug into your phone to save stuff to. But if I save/transfer photos to such an external storage device will the image quality be compromised?

Photo quality loss would only happen if the file is compressed or changed to another file format. Moving the files from one storage device to another doesn't impact quality in anyway, if it did, transferring the photos to an SD Card would degrade the quality which doesn't happen.
