Does Verizon care if you buy phones at $300/$400 off and pay off device payment plan to frequently?

I was only worried for you because I've never heard of a trade-in questionnaire. I've traded at least 22 phone to Verizon over the last 11 years.

Good luck! :)

I'm thinking it's the same as the online trade in estimator you fill out when doing an online order.

nope because you technically not under contract as long as you pay the phone off no problem. I do it all the time. that $400 was the best, I got the s6 edge plus at that time. I already bought the note 4 earlier. I traded in a blackberry curve.

I did the device appraisal with an old S3 hanging around the house and it only came back with a $30 credit. How are people getting $300 credits for the cheapo phones?

There are a couple of factors that could be causing the issue:

1.) Make sure you are doing a device payment plan and not a two year contract or full price purchase
2.) If you are upgrading on your line, only the Droid Turbo 2 can be selected
3.) If you want a different phone, you'll need to open a new line

This was the problem I was running into, even though I was opening a new line on device payment. Because the store was already closed, I couldn't try them with it being the last day of the original October G4 $200 promo. I didn't know it was being extended, which is what pushed me to doing telesales and that fun runaround of the supposed emailed estimator.

After dusoccer10's comment I tried it again online with the Droid Turbo 2 and it worked. I then removed that from my cart and added the G4. In doing so it kept the phone trade in credit at $300. Not a terribly difficult workaround I suppose.

Verizon is weird. I already got the $300 trade-in credit for the $7 phone a couple of days ago. This morning(Sunday), I got another email that said: "Thanks for recycling your used device. We've inspected it and have confirmed that the appraised value is accurate. You will receive your Verizon Wireless account credit in 1 to 2 billing cycles" I checked the date/time and the email was indeed sent at 8:16AM this morning.

If Verizon keeps doing this, they are going to cause a spacetime continuum disruption that will affect the whole universe. (okay, maybe just some very confused customers) :(

The "Resale Tax Form" in the other email made me wonder. Verizon gave me $300 trade-in credit for a $7 form, which means they must be taking a loss, right? I wonder if they they have some legal, but creative way to work this to their advantage when it comes to tax time. They employ over 900 accountants and 350 lawyers in-house, so I guess the answer must be yes. :)

Looks like I'm going to the local store anyway tomorrow, so going to see if they can just do it. The handset speaker doesn't work, so going to try trading for a new one since I'm within the 14 day window.

you mean the speaker on the back doesn't work?

No, the front one for handset calls. The back speaker works fine, and so does Bluetooth calls. The front one crackles at best, but is mostly just DOA.

Were you able to get a replacement and resolve the $300 trade-in credit issue?

No on both accounts. Wouldn't you know it, the speaker worked for him when booting into safe mode. Rebooted into normal mode and still worked. Tried with HD calling on and off and it worked. :what:

He couldn't process the credit because it was a telesales order, but he said not having anything on that line is most likely the issue. I've got another phone on it now and suspended service so I'm not charged anything except the device payment. So we'll see.

Guess you'll just have to call Verizon back and yell at them. Good luck! :)

Does it still let you purchasing retail while keeping unlimited on the Verizon site? Mine is giving me issues now that I'm back in contract under unlimited data.

the $300/$400 offers are only available when adding new lines and paying with Device Payment Plans. :)

So I went in to Verizon today to take advantage of this deal... everything was going fine and then the rep came back and said the promo code was only valid for online purchases. Anyone else run into that issue?

The same thing happened to me. The LGG4SAVE code didn't work at the store. I ended up going home and ordering online.

I bought 3 Galaxy Note 5 during the $400 off deal last month. The Verizon corporate store claimed that they couldn't do the $200-off discount and the $200 trade-in credit together at the store. I showed them the shopping cart from Verizon's own website. It clearly indicated that both could be combined in the same deal for a total of $400 off. I told the guy to ask the manager and the manager agreed. I don't know what they did, but they had no problems figuring it out. I walked out of the store with the Note 5 phones.

Do not take NO for an answer from Verizon corporate stores. If they still refuse, just go to a different Verizon corporate store. If your city only has one Verizon corporate store... then I guess you're SOL and must order online. It doesn't really matter because in the end, you're getting the exact same deal. :)

A couple of weeks ago, when the LG G4 $100-off coupon code and $300 trade-in deal was about to end, I went to the same Verizon corporate store. A different employee was helping me. She again claimed that the $100-off and $300 trade-in deal could NOT be combined in store and suggested that I order online. That was just ridiculous. I spoke to the same manager again who immediately showed the employee how to give me the same deal as Verizon's own website. Less than 5 minutes later, I left the store with the new LG G4.

A couple of days after that, I wanted to get another G4 because the deal was just too good to pass up. LG has it's own $200 Visa rebate card deal, making the G4 better than free. This time, I decided not to bother going to the store and just sat in front my computer half naked in my underwear(just after a shower) and placed the order. The $200 off was applied immediately and the $300 trade in credit was posted to my account 2 days after Verizon received my $7 Verizon prepaid smartphone.

I have submitted the $200 rebate request with LG and the rebate was approved in just 3 or 4 days.(but will take a few more week be actually mailed to me)

So to get the trade in credit can I... add a line to my existing device payment plan I currently have to get a new galaxy s6. Once i get the trade in credit, get the sims switched so my old number from my existing device will be on the new galaxy s6 phone. Then I can cancel my new line which will now be my old device on the new line, pay that one off and sell it? Will that work??

That sound about right. Just remember that you will have to pay the full remaining balance of the device payment plan on the line that you're cancelling. If you don't want to cancel, you can just suspend that line. No more monthly fee. All you'll have is the monthly installment for the device payment plan, until it's paid off in 24 months.
