dot view case over rides lock screen security

Just got done chatting with HTC rep and he confirmed my suspicions - the Dot View case eliminates screen locks. If you turn the screen off with the power button and flip open the case front you go straight to your home screen. no screen lock appears.

HTC rep is wrong. I've been using one for the past week. Always turn off the display by closing the case. If I open the case, the M8 asks for my credentials.

really - I have entered a connect the dots and a pin number. I turn the screen off before I close the cover - everytime I flip open the lid I am at my home screen, no security required

I have my security lock set to start after 15 minutes, and it works fine with the DOT case. Is yours set to go right away or after a timeout?

Where are you setting the activation time?

Settings-->security-->lock phone after--> select your time frame.

Mine is set for 15 minutes of inactivity.

Mine also asks for password, however I use it with SkipLock.
