Thanks for the info. That would bea pain in the ***.
I'm sorry that I don't have a suggestion or a fix.

Guys i have came across with another issue lock ur device with any application on and once u unlock it u wont need to double unlock it only works if u have set unlock through fingerprint.

That statement is incorrect. Anytime the phone locks the issue comes back. Stop downplaying the issue and trying to pretend it is not a big deal. If it was not an issue, people would not have spent the time reporting on it. Just because you don't think it is an issue, does not invalidate it as an issue to other people. Be part of the solution.

It would be to your benefit to actually read the thread before you post.

Same thing after updating to 6.0. It's quite an annoyance. I would love it if this could be turned off, but I guess I just have to live with it for now......

OK , People try this .. So far it works for me since last night ..

Clear out or remove all your password + patent lock, finger print or any kind 0f lock on your phone until you see " Screen lock set None "
Reset your phone , you should be able to log in directly ..
Now ... set your lock screen again .

That didn't work on mine, unfortunately.

This is a real annoyance and I don't understand why Samsung had to do this. It's pointless and there is absolutely no reason for it. The only thing it does is just make it more like the iPhone, which is not what Android needs to be.

The worst part is that apparently I can't downgrade because Verizon locked the bootloader, so I'm stuck with this. Yippee.

I am not sure how this works for you and NO ONE else....
Didn't do anything for me either except waste my time.

Samsung has done this on purpose and I doubt there is a way around it right now.

If your second lock screen looks like the picture here then the problem is the "DU Quick Charger" adware app.

The straightforward solution is to uninstall whatever apps secretly installed "DU Quick Charger".

The same stackexchange page lists some of the apps which do this, such as ES File Explorer V4.0.5. If you need help figuring out which apps are responsible, see How can I find which apps/packages reference a given permission using command line?

This has nothing to do with what everyone is complaining about, have you even read the last 3 pages ??

Yes, I did: The symptom is a second lock screen that you must swipe to unlock, and people have pretty much ruled out the OS-update hypothesis. How is the symptom different than the DU adware? A screen shot would help.

See the steps in Determine which app is drawing on top of other apps? to find which apps could be causing the problem. Removing their "Draw over other apps" permission or uninstalling them would fix it. Note that it's possible that more than one app is causing the problem.

The point is, it's time to move on to testing which apps could cause the problem.

What are you talking about? It is not an app causing this issue. And no one has ever ruled out the OS Update! They have done nothing but CONFIRM the OS Update is the cause.
People like you frustrate me. You show up out of the blue, you don't read, and then you go off on some random tangent that has absolutely nothing to do with the issue at hand. It's quite obvious you have not taken the time to read this thread, including the chat I had with Samsung that I posted.
For the record, this is a known change to the OS, it was done on purpose to prevent pocket dialling. This was known from the Get Go.
The issue at hand was finding a way around it. I would suggest going back and actually reading the thread from the start, and you will see how wrong you are.

Ugh. Just got the update today (AT&T). I strongly considered not installing it, as I end up angry every time I get a new version of Android. Should have gone with my gut. The double lock screen is garbage. Was hoping 3 pages of talk would have a solution. Subbing just in case anyone can convince Samsung how dumb this is.

Not sure if this applies to everyone here but... had Nexus 6P for a week and fingerprint unlock worked fine. Last night after Android update noticed same problem as everyone else - fingerprint only woke the phone and required PIN to unlock. Fingerprint icon at bottom of wake screen also gone and replaced with padlock. Found a thread here http://forums.androidcentral.com/nexus-6p/614995-asks-pin-after-fingerprint.html and a particular reply caught my eye from Nevpaurion who had a similar problem. As he was, I am running Nova Launcher and I tried the "trick" of changing the Double Tap gesture to perform the Lock Screen action. I set this about the same time as i took the Marshmallow update last night. I removed this gesture and now my fingerprint works as it did before and unlocks the phone. I can still use the PIN method too if I just wake the screen and swipe up. But I no longer need both at the same time!! Thanks Nevpaurion!!
Hope this may help at least a few people.

Actually, I think he is right. If that second lock screen is the one he displayed, it should be due to the ES File Explorer. I read through the entire chat, and tested this myself. On that second lock screen, on the top right, there is a settings button. If you click on that, it leads you to ES Charging Boost. Turn that off, and the second lock screen is gone. I used to have that second lock screen display every time I locked my phone, and now, even after restarting, it does not appear. I only know that this remedy applies for that specific lock screen posted by Jerry, if there is any other one, I do not know if it will work.

BTW, on the first page of this thread it says "Seems like it's an 'added benefit' in order to prevent pocket dialing." This was gleaned from other forums by the person posting, and has no official confirmation. The confusion of the Samsung support staff appears to correlate with this.

No this is not the case. I don't have that CRAP software installed, it's still an issue. This is NOT what we are all talking about. Geez

Hi.

Whereas some people may have an issue with third-party apps, etc, this is not one of them.

I purchased my S6 edge+ brand new last week and the very first thing it did, when I powered it on, was to download the marshmallow update. As such, it has never actually been used pre-marshmallow and I have the same issue; ie. having to swipe before entering my pin code.

This is an OS thing and won't be changed unless there is a specific update that tackles it.

My actual preference is to get some sort of double-knock screen-on thing happening, like the LG. I find myself double-tapping on the window, in my S View cover, and expecting the clock to appear.

Tony.
