Double Lock Screen after Marshmallow update...

Wow! Lot's of info throughout this thread. After reading and trying most of the ideas everyone has presented I was able to resolve the issue with my S7 Edge by turning off the Screen Lock feature in my Nova settings. Apparently Nova was adding an additional layer of security to my phone that made it appear as if the update to the phone was the cause. After I turned that off I now only have to use my fingerprint to get into my phone (except after a restart of course).

Go to your Nova settings screen, scroll to the bottom, tap Advanced, tap Screen Lock, tap None to turn it off. Then set your normal android security settings as you see fit. This resolved the issue for me, but as some others have said it MAY NOT be a 3rd party issue for you. It was for me though. Odd that it didn't show up until after the update though. Just a coincidence maybe...

Once again! This IS an OS issue and if you would have read the thread you would know that those who USE fingerprint don't have the double lock screen issue. It's just those that use a pin or pattern. This thread is based on an OS UDPATE, NOT Third party apps for the last time.

Hi guys i just had this update and i find the easiest way to sort out this annoying screen lock is to follow these simple steps on your samsung s6 flat

step 1: Go to settings
step 2: To to Lock screen and security
step 3: Scroll down to Other security settings
step 4: Scroll down other settings menu to Trust Agents
step 5: Trust agent menu you fill find find Smart Lock by Google and the Switch will be on the rite which is in the ON position
Turn this off and the duel screen lock will dissappear.
If you wish to turn it on again the same applies.
Good luck to the guys in future who have this issue.

If your second lock screen looks like the picture here then the problem is the "DU Quick Charger" adware app.

The straightforward solution is to uninstall whatever apps secretly installed "DU Quick Charger".

The same stackexchange page lists some of the apps which do this, such as ES File Explorer V4.0.5. If you need help figuring out which apps are responsible, see How can I find which apps/packages reference a given permission using command line?

This was the answer I was looking for and it helped me. Thanks.

Thanks for repeating was already posted on page one. That also doesn't work

Don't worry guys...chuck is here to save the day

My note 5 did the. Same thing and pissed me off

After messing around for a few minutes it seems like your phone automatically double locks at the four hours as a double measure of security

To fix it go into settings, accessibility and turn the directions lock off

That's worked for me so far....
Good luck hope it. Works

Yeah this worked for me, first pick no password than enable fingerprint only.

Nothing mentioned on this thread so far has actually remedied the problem for me. It seems like the only way to get around this is to use a fingerprint, or no screen lock at all. I finally gave in and just started using fingerprint lock. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but it's better than no security at all.

Agreed! That is what is so stupid about this. Samsung is trying to say they have implamented the double lock screen to prevent pocket dialing, yet if you enable NO security it's only necessary to swipe ONCE to unlock, yet if you have a patters ( How the hell is that going to unlock in your pocket ( they have a double screen? Makes no sense at all

I just tried your solution and it did not work.. this has been very aggravating not being able to get rid of this. any other solutions?

Oh yeah, I forgot to say how I felt about that. Apparently they did the double screen to "prevent pocket dialing", but if you have a pattern anyway, HOW would it be able to pocket dial ??? I've used the S3 for 3 years before this (and the S6 before this update) and not once has it ever "pocket dialed" with my pattern lock, which is why this new "double screen" is completely unnecessary. If this was on my old Windows Mobile HTC Mogul from 2009 which pocket dialed ALL the time (god that phone was dreadful) then that would be welcome, but this is 2016, and this is Android. We don't need to have a "slide to unlock" like the iPhone. If it wasn't broken, don't fix it.

Downloaded and installed earlier this afternoon. Played around for a few minutes and the phone seems faster for sure. One thing thats bugging me is there are now 2 lock screens. I have to swipe the 1st screen, then enter my pin on the 2nd screen. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Im on verizon, if that helps.

Im also reading the update was recently pulled by verizon on both AC comments and also Reddit threads. Whats up?

You need to turn off smart lock under trusted agents in security and then use fingerprint, deleting trusted agents doesn't work. Not sure with pattern or pin as I don't use it. Just need to check if Bluetooth kit in car still connects automatically as this was why I added trusted agents I think or maybe the smart lock is on by default.

This ENTIRE thread was based on Double lock ONLY if you are using PIN or PATTERN. We all know it's not an issue when using Fingerprint. This has been discussed out the WAHZOO! And it keeps getting repeated. Please read the entire thread next time and you would see this.

Change to fingerprint and you don't have the double lock problem any longer. Light it up and his the fingerprint button and you are good to go.

MY GOD! Getting sick of seeing new posts here and people posting the same response again and again!
WE DO NOT WANT TO USE THE FRICKIN' FINGER PRINT OPTION! THAT IS THE WHOLE BASIS OF THIS FRICKIN' POST! And it's not like you even had to read all 4 pages of the thread, you simply needed to just read the ONE post above, that's it! And you would have known.......
We want a FIX not a bandaid for having a double lock screen when using pattern lock or pin.
