Double tap broken after reboot

So I'm getting used to the double tap to wake/sleep. Was working fine until I installed Nova launcher & rebooted.
Then I can't wake the phone, I searched and understand the sleep won't work as the phone doesn't see a "blank" spot as its the Nova skin. But I can only get it to waked I go to settings>gestures & cycle tap to wake off/on again, and all is well until I reboot again. Tried installing sleep lock & wake app, didn't help.

Any fixes other than going to stock desktop? (if so, can I make it so I have left & right screens from the home screen instead of just screens to the right?)
Prefer not to root yet as its only a week old and I'm not confident yet.

I don't have an answer, but I tested with my Idol 3....It works fine with GoLauncher even after rebooting.

Might just be a Nova thing sorry to say.
