Double Texts with emojis after 4.4.3 Update

After updating Android to 4.4.3 on ATT, when I send out a text with an emoji the text sends with the emoji and then another sends without an emoji directly after it.

For example if I sent out a text that said: The HTC is cool

Texts would send saying:

The HTC is cool
AND:
The HTC is cool

This is the stock HTC Messaging app, using the swiftkey pro keyboard. None of this happened on 4.4.2. I also should mention that I am using the ART developer runtime, but I don't see that making a difference.

Any Ideas?

I was wondering about the same issue too, I still have the issue after having to do a factory 'reset to fix my battery drain issue after the update.
