If youre running an unofficial rom I believe you need to flash back to the official 2.0.1 in order to receive the legit 2.1.

We'll find out. I rooted my Droid and didn't do anything yet.

Its supposed to block the install of the update.zip that gives root access. I'm curious if existing root access will still work.

it only blocks update if you installed 99.2b and up, installed a rom that blocks it, or you manually block it

so if this droid 2.1.1 update that we've all been anxiously awaiting doesn't include basic 2.1 functions like the 5 homescreens and the launcher, how many of you are gonna be looking for a Nexus one 2.1.1 Rom to put on your droid?

also is their any mention of Adobe Flash 10.1 being slipped into this update?

I don't understand what takes so long to get the droid up to the OS of the N1, they are essentially the same phone. one has a faster chip, and they other has a keyboard.

Different kernels different capabilities etc plus verizon has to approve it.

Flash 10 will not be in this update (Read the front page).

Here is where it gets interesting. When you were root and 2.0.1 dropped you would unroot and keep the SU permission app. You had to reroot and delete the app and reunroot. If this happens now and they patch root. You will be stuck with the icon and they will know you were root, voiding the warranty.

What if you wipe your phone to factory settings? Does it clear everything as if you didn't root? So then you can update fine and no one knows? Sorry not savy on rooting yet.

GREAT 2.1!!....without live wallpapers....GOOD 2.1!....without 3D app drawer.....OK 2.1...without 3D picture gallary...WTF 2.1?!? with only pinch to zoom? well I guess if I haven't downloaded dolphin browser thats great. Home screen appears the same as 2.0.1 for the no 5. Misread that no 3D gallery, but wouldn't be surprised if this stripped down verision doesn't have it.
