DROID 2.1 Update thread.

I wish, I could use a couple drinks.

Dude! Its 8:43am where I'm at. If you need a couple of drinks now, you may have to start AA meetings!

Back on topic. Did you get your 2.1 on yet? Still waiting on the OTA here............

Darkstar - thanks a million for the directions folder...now I will be less disappointed not having VZ Navigator. Wish I had something to add to this thread...this newbie appreciates all the tips (and am pleased I've found most of them already).

Wow.......do I really have to go over this again?

I guess I do.

OTA and Manual update are the same! People, stop thinking its because you updated manually.

Ever since I updated to 2.1, my Pandora will no longer stream through my car's bluetooth into the stereo system. Did they remove this capability, or is there just some option I am missing that I need to activate?

Mine still works fine, I'd check if there's an option to play through speaker or play through bluetooth in the Settings of Pandora

Unfortunately under the Pandora settings there is no option like that. Maybe I'll try testing it later against music physically located on the phone. This sucks, I was really excited about having free streaming pandora in my car.

I don't mean to sound rude or condescending, but have you made sure your bluetooth and car stereo is paired up?

I just noticed this, but did anyone else's 2.1 update add the Verizon Visual Voicemail automatically into their app drawer? I can't even uninstall it -_- Anyone know how to?

I'm not sure if I will go back to stock because the 2.1 ESE53 ROM I'm on now is flawless and just having the option to overclock/underclock comes in handy. The only thing I could want right now is apps to SD card storage.

After finding out that Pete made a rooted version, I updated. So far, so good. Everything is a bit faster and smoother.

Is this rooted version a ROM, or is it a version of the update that can be rooted? I use AdamZ's Smoked Glass v6.0.1, and I would like to update but I don't want to lose root access and I would like to keep the Smoked Glass ROM.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but its not a ROM, its just an update that leaves SU permissions

Another issue I am having is no Google Earth in the market. Was looking forward to it. Is Google Earth a N1 only app., or is this an issue I am having?

wondering this myself, but i saw it on the market 2 days ago.....then poof

If you updated from a non rooted 2.0.1 to 2.1 and you are having issues, you are in the minority I assure you. It means there is something (user error?) that is specifically wrong with your handset and not the 2.1 update.

I had an issue, I rebooted my phone, and now it works flawlessly.

You rang? LOL! Joking :)

Nevermind figured it out, Astro was not playing nice, all fixed. Dumb Astro

"Rorry, Reorge."

Couldn't resist. ;)

I seem to have stumbled upon one of the under-hood improvements of 2.1, I think. When I'm working from home, I like to pair my phone with my computer so that I can stream music and podcast audio to the PC speakers. Since I first got the Droid, the bluetooth stereo audio streaming has always worked, but it would hiccup every few minutes with a little glitch in the audio. It didn't matter if I had it paired to my home PC or my work laptop, it would always do it.

I did some searching on these forums about that problem and discovered that others have experienced it to. Many said that all you needed to do was make sure nothing else was running on the phone because A2DP streaming was very process intensive. I took that advice, but it didn't seem to cure the audio hiccups.

Well, for the first time since updating to 2.1, I paired up my phone to my PC and began streaming audio, has I have many times before. Except this time, it was different... NO MORE HICCUPS!. It seems that 2.1 was fixed this problem.

Anyone else noticed this?
