Droid 2.2 default notification sound problems

Ok first, yes I have done a search. No results. Has anyone had any problems on the 2.2 FroYo notification alerts? The two problems I am having is that it no longer makes an alert sound when starting/powering down the phone to alert the mount/unmounting of the SD card (I use to have it set as the "Droid" alert) and also when mounting/unmounting to the computer. Yes, the option for it under sounds is gone as well. I have restarted my phone several times and it has only made the Droid sound once when starting. Anyone else having this problem? I'm on 2.2 FroYo, no root and forced the update. I heard some members did have to do a factory reset before things started working normal (my last resort).

I can't set my phone to silent anymore using the volume button on the side. It will only go down to vibrate. Have to go into sound settings in order to silence everything. Very annoying...
