Droid 2 Global Unlocking issue- have code already

Hi all - having an issue with the Droid 2 Global I just bought. My situation: I'm living in Chile and don't currently have a Verizon account. The phone was bought on eBay and was supposed to be unlocked, but when I tried putting in my Entel SIM it asked for a SIM unlock code. I tried calling Verizon already and they wouldn't give it to me even though I used to have an account with them, nor would they give it to my friend who has one (all paid up) and claimed it was his dad's phone.

I e-mailed the store that I got it from with my IMEI + MEID and they sent me back an unlock code, but that didn't work - I got a "network unlock request unsuccessful" message. Maybe because I'm already abroad, I dunno. Any ideas on what to do next? I spent a lot of money on this thing... :-\

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. All i can think of right now is if you know anyone with Verizon in the US is to ship it to them and have them unlock it.

I have a couple possibilities, how would that work? Would they need to attach it to their account first? Thanks for the reply.

yeah, you'd have to send them the phone and they'd need a sim card from a different carrier. Then they would have to tell the customer support rep that they plan to use the device on a different carrier and they need the phone unlocked. as long as their pill is paid off and the phone is not on the Blacklisf (lost or stolen) they should give you the unlock code.

Sounds like it could work- except aren't the GSM carriers in the US (T-Mobile and AT&T) blocked? I may have my old T-Mobile sim card around somewhere...

Yeah they are blocked but if you put the card in your device it will still prompt you for the unlock code so you can unlock it. Then if you wanted to use it on another carrier, just pop your sim in and you're good.

I?m from Brazil and bought a Verizon Motorola Droid 2 Global from ebay. Exactly like you did.
I'm in the same condition. There is no unlock codes to sell on the internet to this phone on this company (Verizon).
I'm thinking 2 possibilities to solve the problem:
1. Find someone to create a android program to type the SIM unlock code 8 digits and forget the phone running ths little software until it find the right code.
2. Flash a non verizon ROM and try to enter the code I bought on the internet.

What do you think? Can we find someone to help us create this android software?

Im having the same problems, spoke with verizon and they wouldnt give me any help (one of them actually told me to get a verizon account, wait 8 months and then try to get the unlock code)

I am Canadian and bought one from eBay as well with same issues where Verizon won't issue unlock code and I got unlock codes form various unlocking website without any luck, Fortunately, they all reimbursed me except one...honest people

I just got and tried the i-smartsim and it does not work.

Unlock SIM- Universal Unlock sim card For most cellphone(need Cut)

When any SIM is in the phone (without i-smartsim), the phone finds it and asks for an unlock PIN. When the i-smartsim is in with the sim, the phone does not even find a sim and does not ask for a PIN. There is no service at this point, of course. I tested all scenarios with the original Verizon SIM that came in the phone (but not providing service) and my working Bell sim.

I'm in the same situation as you (I'm in Brazil). I got my Droid 2 Global by ebay and I've tried the unlock code provided by the site UnlockItNow without success.
Does anyone have any tips on how to solve this problem? Is there how to reprogram the ROM of the device through some equipment?
The seller offered me the right to return the unit (returning the amount paid to me), I think unfortunately this is the best solution (the seller said the phone was unlocked when I bought, but he was wrong).
